BLOCK 0 – MC LEADERSHIP
Memory Project- Write-up
1. What have you learned this past year taking MC Leadership? What are you most proud of?
This past year, I have learned that spreading awareness for an event is vital when it comes to a great turn-out. We had several events throughout this year of which some were promoted well through classroom visits and different types of advertisements, and the others did not reach as large of an audience, unfortunately. This led to a poor turn-out.
I also learned that there is power in community, especially when you converse with your fellow peers. A few weeks ago, I was running late for an event, and when I reached, to my surprise, things were up and running! Another instance, we had two group members absent and their duties were not going to be fulfilled, but my peer and I were quick to jump at it, no matter the situation. It is necessary for everyone to put in the required effort and be ready to help out when asked.
I am most proud of the positive energy that fills up the room during an event. For example, during the Kayak Trip on May 6th, 2024, everyone was excited, and the event was thoroughly enjoyed! In addition, earlier this year, I began to step outside of my comfort zone and take it upon myself to get things started with the first boba party we had this year. It was a great turn-out and everyone had fun. I am very proud of this.
2. What are some of your most memorable moments this past year?
Breakfast Buddies at Rochester. Taking part in preparing food for the elementary school-going students taught me that commitment and effort pay off because you are performing service while adopting different skills in the kitchen.
Kayak Field Trip. This trip was fun because it was my first time kayaking and it was great to have my friends by my side who I shared many laughs with.
Group projects and events. The April boba party helped me step outside of my comfort zone because I had a leader role within the group and carried the next June boba party forward.
3. How can we inspire others to join MC Leadership in the future?
We could host more events that touch on a wider spectrum of cultures all around the world. Our school community is constantly growing with students and staff from everywhere and hosting events that capture their culture could make them feel at home when they are miles away.
Also, within the events that touch on culture, we could have interesting games and presentations that convey the culture and relay information about the culture to other students.
In my opinion, other students would be better persuaded to join MC Leadership in the future if we carried out events and kept these few ideas in mind.
4. What’s next?
I hope to have a more tight-knit leadership team that is more involved and able to work and cooperate with one another on a more.
We should implement skill building games and activities for leaders so that we can familiarize ourselves with one another.
According to me, I think I have made a difference within the school community. I have done this by helping our multicultural leadership team grow by making more friends and indulging in activities.
