Turning Leftovers Into Something New

I made homemade Gnocchi with tomato sauce. This meal was inspired by the leftover potatoes and tomato sauce that was in the refrigerator. The five senses I used during this recipe were first I used touch while combining the flour, egg ,salt, and potatoes, by using my hands rolling the dough into a ball. Next I used my eyesight when I had to roll out the dough into skinny snake like pieces. Then, I heard the Gnocchi being dropped into the boiling water. After the Gnocchi was cooked and had risen to the top of the pot, I placed the Gnocchi in the delicious smelling tomato sauce. Finally, I served the Gnocchi onto a plate and sprinkled Parmesan cheese. It was very tasty. I did not use a specific recipe but I did use my Mom’s previous knowledge from making Gnocchi in the past. If I was going to make this dish again I think I would add cheese to the Gnocchi mixture in order to give more texture to the dish. A challenge I faced during this process was peeling the potatoes since they were cooked it was a lot harder to remove the skin. I overcame this challenge by using a knife instead of a vegetable peeler which seemed to be much easier. My greatest success of this dish would have to be the final product because of the fact this was my first time making this dish and it turned out well. I am most proud of the fact that I completed this dish all by myself.
