Ecommerce 12 Core Competency Reflection

Creative Thinking CC:

For my class design I decided to make a quarter zip up. This project demonstrated my creative thinking abilities through the design, additions and features I added. This was the best option as it is something I do not have a lot of whereas hoodies are common in my wardrobe. I chose grey as I wanted a mid-tone color that I can wear and still style well. For my design I went with the Man City soccer team logo as it is my favorite team. I Thought it would be nice to incorporate something that means something to me as well as something I would enjoy putting on. The blue and glittery accent gives the quarter zip a nice clean look with a pop of color. Additionally, I added the number 9 on the back. This represents the jersey number that I have worn for the last few years. I felt the placement of the 9 is perfect, placing it on the back top center just below the collar. It added a sense of uniqueness and still that clean vibrant look I wanted. It also had a nice pop of color with the blue fading into a nice purple with a glitter accent as well. Overall, the final product turned out perfectly and I am pleased with the result.

Titration Core Competency:

Titration Lab 20C:

CommunicationCC:

Effective communication was crucial in the titration lab, especially working with a partner. To stay on the same track my partner, Tanner and I had to constantly talk to one another to ensure we both knew our responsibilities and handled data correctly. In the titration experiment, accuracy were precision essential, and to be successful in those components my partener and I both had to agree on what steps to take and how precise and accurate each others data and observations were. It was important to clearly and accurately convey information such as the volume of solution was added, an the observed color changed, and the corresponding data readings. Any misunderstandings or lack of communication could’ve resulted in inaccurate results, which could have undermined the whole experiment. I feel throughout the three titrations we did our communication came more fluently and we were on the same page. This lead to our 2nd and 3rd titration going very well opposed to our 1st one as we communicated the mistakes made in titration 1. For example, in the first titration our end result was a very dark pink solution as we knew that we rushed the amount of NaOH we added. This lead us to use the full drops and half drops earlier in titration 2 and 3, and by communicating when to stop with each other our solution colour turned out much better. Overall, good communication among partners encourages collaboration, allowing for the exchange of ideas and observations. Communication served as the foundation for success in our titration lab and ensuring accurate results and a valuable learning experience.

Core Competencies Marketing 11

Communication Core Competency

“I can understand and share basic information about topics that are important to me, and answer simple, and direct questions about my activity and experiences.”:

One topic that holds significance to me is soccer so making an infographic on a topic that I’m already very interested in made me succeed even more. By examining an infographic on Nike soccer cleats, I was able to leverage my understanding to shed light on various aspects and address straightforward inquiries. In the infographic, there were many visual representations of different models of Nike soccer cleats, highlighting their unique features and benefits. By using my knowledge, I was able to share basic information about these cleats, such as their design, materials used, and technologies incorporated. Overall, my ability to understand and share basic information about topics important to me, combined with my ability to answer simple, direct questions about my activity and experiences, enables me to provide valuable insights regarding Nike soccer cleats or any other subject within my comfort zone. Whether it’s discussing their features, or performance, or answering questions about a topic important to me, I feel I’m confident and capable of pushing myself and providing the best insight possible.

 French 11 Movie Posters

Collaborating:

During this assignment, I had to use collaboration skills a lot of the time as we first discussed and came up with a movie we both mutually agreed on making our poster. We then worked together to come up with a concept and design which is shown in our poster above. We collaborated efficiently as we shared responsibilities for creating content and visuals and helped each other out when one needed help. Throughout the assignment, there were times when we weren’t both at school so we communicated that regularly to ensure the project was on track to be finished in time. We gave one another feedback on the work we each did and used each other’s advise to better our project and take it to the next level. Overall, good collaboration needs to involve lots of communication, respect both ways and a mutual agreement and shared vision of the final product. I feel as a group we presented that well and did a great job presenting our poster in front of Ms. Ward.

Life Saving Measures

My three main takeaways from the two presentations would be recognizing when someone needs CPR or when someone is overdosing, how to conduct CPR properly or use of the Naloxone kit, and the significance of notifying emergency services as soon as possible. Expanding on those ideas I noted that the Naloxone kit is free and can be found at any local pharmacy in my neighborhood. As for CPR, I noted that just by performing CPR the chances of the person surviving rise significantly from about 10% to 40% which is highly significant and could play a huge factor in saving a life. To perform proper CPR you should be consistent at around 100-120 presses per minute. These processes require conducting certain procedures in a safe and reasonable manner in order to keep the affected person(s) safe. These three points are crucial in my life as especially as someone who is always engaging in sports, activities, and daily life, the chances of seeing someone go into cardiac arrest at some point in my life are quite high as I’m always surrounded by people in environments where some may not be best suited. Therefore having the skills of just being able to perform CPR or use an AED or Naloxone kit could be the savior in someone’s life and are very useful tools to have in our society especially.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection:

I can analyze my own beliefs and consider views that do not fit with them:

To analyze my own beliefs and evaluate viewpoints that contradict them, I begin by being open-minded and prepared to listen to diverse points of view. I feel this is shown in my everyday life as my beliefs are different from my friends, family, and others a lot of the time, which is okay as everyone sees the world from a different perspective. To make this a positive thing I engage in positive discussions with others who have opposing viewpoints, and am willing to change my view in response according to what they have to say.

IDS Inquiry Reflection

My inquiry question is ” How much can I improve in soccer this year? ” more specifically how well I can improve throughout the course of my season. Since I wrote my personal learning plan, my  topic of interest hasn’t really changed, and I’ve always concentrated on strategies to improve my inquiry all around.

My time management for IDS has been okay as I feel I was doing great before winter break but have started to slow down and have been less consistent. During CENT time, I sometimes am working on my inquiry but often have the urge and need to use the time to work on other subjects. I feel my work habits are good but need to lean more into using CENT time for IDS. Although, I do try and make extra time to work on my inquiry project on the weekend when I feel I may need to (30 min-1hr on some weekends).

The typical resources I use for my project are YouTube, specifically my soccer team’s channels where my games are filmed and uploaded for me to review. I also use google to research things like statistics and any info I may wonder about. I’ve additionally found lots of helpful videos from TikTok, like ways to train, and what workouts to do.

I am currently facing the challenge of finding the motivation to follow through with some of the drills and workouts I would like to do. I feel, after winter break, I lost my determination and my mindset is not where it used to be. I think this is because after the end of my first semester, I was drained, and I couldn’t find time and effort to do my inquiry. I think that mindset has carried on since after winter break and I have not been able to get back to where I was in my effort just yet. Although with hard work and consistency, I am confident I can get back to where I was.

I have grown a lot in Core Competencies throughout this inquiry process, mainly in my Personal and Social competency, I have improved myself at soccer and it has shown in my character as well as my individual and team success. I feel I have been a better all-around person and player as the season has progressed. I started to care more and more about how my team performed and have always been looking at the goal “To win provincials.” My team and I both know how important winning is to all of us and I feel that I’ve done my part to make that happen as we have been very successful in the last few weeks especially. I have grown a lot and I’ve improved myself and now I’m feeling a lot better, my team is winning and we’re having fun.

I will share what I’ve been learning/researching in this inquiry by PowerPoint or posterboard, I do believe I am on track to share what I’ve been learning by the end of May to early June.

I may continue working on this inquiry for my Capstone next year, and carry it on to next season because I have seen great results. I may also switch topics but I’m probably going to stick to my interest which is sports.

EFP 11 Core Competency

My Artifact:

Photo Project

Curricular Competency Reflection:

This assignment reflected on the land we reside on and many other indigenous communities within BC. I learned a lot about the territory I live on which I felt was really impactful. I feel I really benefited from the concepts of land, and community and how it has affected indigenous communities throughout the years. After visiting all these places and learning about the various groups that the land belongs to it made me realize how fortunate we are to be able to live and grow on the land we have. This project has truly expanded my knowledge of indigenous communities and I am proud of the work I’ve completed.

Core Competency Reflection:

Thinking: During this assignment, I had to share the photos and experiences I went through while being on the traditional lands of many different indigenous communities. I also had to reflect deeply on the stories behind the places I visited and how they are related to the indigenous peoples as well as how the colonization of the land has impacted them.

Indigenous Storytelling Assignment

Curricular Competencies Reflection

Comprehend and Connect:

I am proud of this artifact, not only because I achieved well on it, but rather because of how my writing represented my beliefs. By explaining my viewpoint and discovering indigenous storytelling, I have proven the curricular competency of being able to comprehend and connect. I’ve discovered that you can convey knowledge, cultures, heritage, values, and more through storytelling and was able to express my knowledge of these topics well throughout the assignment.

Core Competencis Reflection

Thinking:

Thinking, is the core competency that I feel I was able to truly develop and elaborate on during this assessment. This is due to the fact that, in contrast to other tasks, this one required me to utilize a lot of imagination and consider deeply how I felt about the principles, ideas, and themes that the indigenous people had taught me. I’m glad to have been able to forge a strong connection and think thoroughly about the principles we share because without this assignment, neither my objectives nor my understanding of indigenous cultures would have expanded.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

Critical and Reflective Thinking.

The criminal justice system plays a massive role in ensuring that our country’s citizens are kept safe and feel the wellness our justice system intends to bring. Currently, Canada’s criminal justice system is mainly focused on the idea of rehabilitation rather than more severe punitive punishments being handed out. This certainly has both its flaws and upbringings and impacts our nation in numerous ways. Personally, I feel Canada should apply more punitive punishment where it is necessary as I feel it will cause most individuals to really see how poor decisions can lead to major conflicts. I also am keen about this as Canada doesn’t impose the death penalty which is completely fine but with this, I feel they should have strict laws, including harsh punishments to go along with the laws being broken. Therefore inflicting these punitive punishments will show people that their actions can lead to serious faults and it may even lower the crime rate as people who may have gotten away with things in the past will see that there are now more punitive punishments in place.

I can analyze evidence to make judgments.

Throughout the course, we’ve completed numerous activities, assignments or collaborative group work that involve analyzing and gathering information and creating an opinion-based judgment based on the facts gathered. An example of this would be the Intro to law assignment in which there were many cases in that we had to read and analyze any data, evidence, and other viable information and use it to make judgments like whether the individual was guilty and if so what evidence points to that and why. Based on this, I feel I’ve exemplified that I am capable of using evidence to create ethical judgments that result in a good understanding of the topics being covered.
