Thin Crust Pizza

Making and Sharing Reflection

Identify appropriate tools, technologies, food sources, processes, cost implications, and time needed for production

When making this recipe I made sure that I was using all the appropriate tools so I didn’t have to do extra dishes. I used a Jellyroll pan to bake the pizza on and used a cutting board and knife to cut the peppers and spinach. It took about two days to complete this dish because we made the dough one day and added the toppings and baked it the next day. The reason why it took two days to make this pizza is because the dough takes about 12-24 hours for the yeast to activate and rise.

Assess their ability to work effectively both individually and collaboratively, including their ability to share and maintain an efficient co-operative workspace

While making this recipe I worked effectively both individually throughout stretching the dough into the pizza shape because you weren’t supposed to work with our group members during this step. But I worked with my group while cutting the vegetables and baking part because we had to communicate who’s pizza was going in the oven first because there was only one pizza allowed in the oven at a time so it would cook evenly.

Core Competency Reflection

Some things I think about before dividing tasks among group members is… making sure that my group members are happy and agree to take on a task, for example ingredient person or unit person. and equally dividing the tasks evenly towards everyone.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to…make sure we are following the recipe correctly and kitchen rules.

I know the group is working well together when I hear/ see…my group members getting along and helping each other on the recipe questions. And helping one another when they finished their tasks before somone elses in our group.

While working in the kitchen, I help to build and extend understanding by…explaining things to my group members if their unsure of something or the teacher is busy with another group. Also helping other groups that are behind on cleaning up while my group has already completed that.

One Goal

One goal that I have for myself going forward is When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I will ask questions to get to know them better and will actively listen when they are speaking. I am working on this goal because I’m not close with a lot of people in my class and I want to get to know them more.

Virus Unit Core Competency Self Assessment

Artifacts:

Virus Project

I chose this artifact becuase I spent many hours working on this virus which I was really proud of. It was also a huge project we were given to show our understanding about viruses and our creativity.

Virus Simulation Lab

I chose this artifact becuase it was easy. All we did was take a cup with a number on it with some sort of liquid in it. But one of the cups had the virus which we didn’t know. So, the task was to pour your liquid into other peoples cups and back into yours with five different people. The reason for this lab was to see how fast a virus can spread in a small area called endemic. Endemic means an infectious disease regularly occuring within an area or community but in a restricted area such as a classroom which we demonstrated for this lab.

Explanation:

Core Competency:

I demonstrated the Core Competency Thinking becuase while I was brainstorming about my Virus Project, I had to think about what materials that would be best for building my model. I also had to do some research for my pamphlet which took some time and I had to be creative/think outside the box to design a pamphlet that was unique and different from the others.

I demonstrated the Core Competency Communication for attending the Virus Simulation Lab becuase I had to communicate with my classmates and be careful who could have the virus. But I also used communication becuase at the end of the class we discussed who could of started the virus and spreaded it too.

values:

Health- We put health as a main value in our city because we want our city and our citizens to stay healthy. We put houses into the section of “family”, because in your home it’s usually the place you spend the most time with your family. We included an orphanage so that every child has a warm place to stay, with workers we make sure that love them.

Safety- Safety is the most important value in our city. We value safety a lot because our people need to be safe and live, play and enjoy our city while feeling safe. We have police in our city to protect our citizens and their homes and making sure their abiding the law. The fire fighters stop fires and ambulances rescue people, but they both risk their lives during their jobs which makes having them in our community a big contribution.

Symbolic colours:

We chose to make our city colourful because we want our city to stand out. And we made our farmers market and our houses rainbow and no matter who they are or who they identify as.

Communication Reflection

The city design project was about what we wanted our city to look like if we ever built one. We were put into 2-3 groups in our class and we had to work with them and share our ideas with them and start brainstorming our idea’s and built them on any website we wanted to use. The program I chose was Minecraft because it was the easiest way for me and my partner to work together and build our city together. My partner and I communicated by face timing most of the time but we also went to my house and talked about our idea’s while social distancing of course. We gave each other feedback when we would share our idea’s with one another. when one of us had a good idea we both liked we would write that down and tell them that it’s a great idea. My partner and I didn’t have responsibilities, we would just do everything together so that we could do the same amount of work and it would be fair. That was the easiest way we could show our designs. The two of us worked very well because we made sure to respect each other thoughts and ideas that we shared. When we were in class we made sure we would finished our work and not waste our time so we couldn’t fall behind. Our decisions were made by telling the ideas we had before building our city. We faced no problems the whole way through the design. we were very satisfied with our final design, we were very shocked how good of a job we did and how hard we worked. We could improve on starting our project just a little bit earlier because we had to finish our building designs on the weekend.
