Music Monday “LAND” Map Assignment: Self-Assessment

Map Assignment

Curricular Response

I chose the quote “This land ain’t your land” due to the fact that it is a direct comparison to the first song we listened to and how this land doesn’t belong to the settlers, it belongs to the people who were originally there. I chose to draw a picture of a sign reading “private property” because the settlers took their land, claimed it as their own, and then didn’t allow the original people to come onto said land.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

It wasn’t too difficult to create pictures and words to create meaning as I see myself as a creative person. Due The drawing of the vandalized house signifies the “ghettos” the colonisers forced them to live on. The skeleton shows how “anthropology shows the truth” about who was there first, and lastly, the torn treaty signifies that they don’t care about the treaty, they “still call them all crooks.”

Anatomy and Physiology 12 Core Competency Self-Assessment

Dissection of the Hard Palate on a Fetal Pig

I can work with others to achieve a goal. My partner and I were able to work together efficiently to dissect our fetal pig together. We were able to split work evenly, ask each other for help when needed, ask each other questions or clarification, and ensure we were doing everything properly while learning and understanding the process of the digestive system and how it works. If my partner and I had a question or concern that neither of us could answer, we had the ability to turn to our teacher and peers to see if they could support us.

I can be kind to others and support others when they need it. During the lab, my classmates would sometimes come over to our station and ask me and my partner questions, whether it be about where to make a certain cut or to locate the spleen, we were able to support them and provide them with the answers. Sometimes other group members would become a bit squeamish over the pig, and my other classmates including myself were able to calm them down or help them out in any way we could.

I can analyze evidence to make judgments. After we finished the dissection, my partner and I had to find and mentally label all the parts of the fetal pig, as a part of our lab was an oral test. This was difficult, as prior to the dissection, the only diagrams of the digestive system were through illustrated images inside of our textbook, and the images don’t exactly look like the digestive system in real life. We had to analyze and make judgements on if we were labelling the pig’s organs correctly.

Law Debates

About The Project

For this project, as a group, we had to come up with an argument to defend why polygamy should be/remain illegal. We had to research the subject as well as come up with a speech to argue against the other group whose opinion differed from ours and present it in front of the class.

Core Competency Reflection

I can take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share. I chose this one because I was able to do my part in the project and not force my responsibilities on my other group members

I can recognize different points of view and disagree respectfully. I chose this one because, in a debate, you need to be able to see both sides to come up with a well thought out argument.

I understand and share information about a topic in a clear, organized way. I chose this one because I was able to research information and put it together in an organized way.

I can work well with others to achieve a goal. I chose this one because I had to work in a group and we were able to work together to come out with a final product.

One of my goals is to say that I can encourage others to share their voices and value diverse perspectives. I chose this one because there were some people in my group that were putting minimal effort into the project. In the future, I would encourage them to participate more and share their ideas.

Curricular Competency Reflection

reflect on how you were able to: Make reasoned ethical judgments about controversial decisions, legislation, or policy

I was able to make reasoned ethical judgements about controversial decisions by researching both sides to come up with a valid argument for our group. At first, I didn’t quite agree with our side until I started doing research as I wasn’t educated about the subject. It made it easier being on the side I believed in when coming up with an argument, but I was also able to understand the opinion and facts from the opposing group.
