Reflection
Tim Burton, in Edward Scissorhands, used editing in order to make transitions and make connections between scenes/shots.
For example, in my own interpretation, I kept the different cuts in between and the change of lighting/settings but I skipped some cuts and some dialogue to show what is generally happening in this scene.
This adaptation from film to visual novel taught me the importance of editing in film, and how transitions make scenes more effective, like using cuts to present a scene instead of having to do a one-shot. It also shows the contrast between the shots because of the layout in the visual novel version. for example, in the first cut, the lighting was low-key and there was a small build up to Kim getting scared of Edward in the dark room. Afterwards, the tension is relieved and the lighting changed to more of a high-key, the characters have calmed down (both Kim and Edward), the atmosphere in the setting (in the house) turned lighter.
