Throughout this semester my group member and I worked hard when we could at understanding the class material through working through board questions the day after watching the videos for the corresponding lessons. The profile that which I can relate to the most is profile 4 as at many points in the semester I had to take the role of being the main contributor as my teammate had difficulty in staying up to date with the material at times. Therefore I had to do a better job at understanding the material in attempt to help my group understand the material covered that day and connect them to it.
During this semester there has been plenty of opportunity for me to collaborate with others in the form of labs. One specific lab in which I collaborated in a group of three was Lab 19C Determining the Solubility of a product. We talked amongst our selves to split the work up evenly with one person grabbing equipment, one filling the test tubes with the chemicals, and another filling up the test tubes with water. A strategy used to record the data was to use two people stirring the test tubes in the heat and another observe the solutions dissolve and at what temperature they did. When it came time to do questions for the analysis section each individual did their own work, then we came together to compare and contrast what we did right and wrong, and help each other understand our mistakes.
I would say that I am more exteroceptive as when I did the test recommend by the video of closing my eyes and lying in a place with little distractions, I found it difficult to focus inward on what’s happening at the level of my skin and internal organs as my mind tended to focus on external noise such as music in another room or cars outside. I would say I am more exteroceptive as it is easier for me to get distracted instead of truly focusing on something I find challenging such as meditating interoceptively.
2. I would say the best meditation practices for my personal growth would be interceptive ones as they would create for change in the way my brain is wired. As I am more of an exteroceptive person doing interoceptive meditations, which I find more challenging, would allow me to improve my level of focus not just in meditation but in other scenarios as my mind will be challenged to adapt to this discomfort for the better.
3. For interceptive meditation a non-cyclic or more complex breathing pattern involving deliberate voluntary commands such as doing two inhales and one exhale would be best to combine with it, as by focusing on the breathing practice it will require more attention to be diverted on the breathing associated with the meditation and less on other things. This non default level of breathing allows for you to focus on the way you breathe internally and the organs that are used really complimenting interoceptive meditation.
4. The best type of breathing for calming down would be patterns of longer and more vigorous exhale to let the air out with more emphasis relative to the passive inhales. This will shift the nervous system to a level of more calm.
How did I act on the feedback from my first and second writing assignments in writing this one.
The feedback I received on my previous assignments was that I had to prune my work meaning I had to get rid of extra unnecessary words and phrases. At first it was a big struggle for me as I had always been used to writing a lot. However, through repeated exercise on this I got the hang of it. I wrote my paragraph as I normally would and went back and looked it over. I then took out multiple unnecessary bits until it was fully pruned.
The assignment I choose to reflect on is called user dictionary tree. It involved using a combination of dictionary functions and turtle to get the program to draw the output. At first, I found the usage of functions challenging but as working through the assignment I started to understand them more. Through this I learned how to better utilize turtle modules functions and dictionaries. I think I did a good job with this assignment as I got it to work properly.

With a heightened usage of the internet in today’s modern society, more and more users are able to log onto their search browsers and find anything they can, raising concerns regarding one’s digital footprint and the importance of internet and how some of their activities can put them at risk and how they should become more secure on what they do online. Often times people may be posting more information than they are aware of regardless of if their privacy settings are on private. It is very important to track what you post and the websites that you visit as there may often be more unwanted eyes on them than you think. These eyes can range from future employers and schools to internet hackers and scammers. One can put themselves at risk by participating in risky behavior online such as making public pictures and thoughts that should remain private which can be viewed by an employer and school and used against them. Often times browsing on sketchy websites and clicking suspicious links can allow hackers to invade your personal devices with malware, giving them access to one’s private information such as passwords, bank accounts, private emails, and more. Even by just sharing your name or posting your location, pictures and names of your family and pets even birthdays, scammers may use this information to use against you or others around you gain them thing from them such as money or even guess passwords. There are ways however which one can partake in to protect themselves from the dangers of the internet. One can use a VPN to encrypt their browsing traffic making it harder for hackers to obtain your information on unsecure websites and links. One can also make their social media accounts are private so then only a select few people are able to view their pictures and have access to what you share. Finally, it is important to attempt to delete anything that is irrelevant such as old photos and documents as well as old account you do not use anymore, this is important to ensure one’s safety. One’s digital footprint is far bigger than you may think that’s why it is important for one to know how to decrease and make sure they have a positive one that can be looked a positively without harm, by not posting unnecessarily and staying away from sketchy sites and links one can be safe when scrolling online.
My values around achieving good grades in high school inform my decisions about how much time I spend on devices engaging in recreational activities by limiting my minutes on them. I attempt to do well in school, so to achieve this I limit my time on recreational devices. I try not to use my phone much afterschool maybe just for the first hour I am home from school. I do to not get distracted and waste time scrolling on not important things. I also attempt to place myself in a room where there is no television or gaming console as to not have the temptation to turn them on and waste time on them. By doing this I ensure I am focused to get good marks.
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are through social media and video games. These two resources allow for me to be able to connect with friends who are both close distant and far away. Via social media I can interact with my friends’ pages and view what they are up to depending on what they post. I can also interact with them by messages and asking how they are doing and what they are up to, keeping up with them. Social media also allows for me to be able to follow someone I have not seen in a long time and catch up with them. Video games also allow me to interact with others as I may play with friends who are far away from me. It is something my friends and I can bond over allowing for our online relationship to be stronger.
I know that my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences including what I post on social media, so I adjust my action to ensure I am safe online. First of all I am careful of what I post online. I try not to give out to much information such as my location and other personal information. I also set my accounts to private as to only allow those who I know to be able view what I post. On top of this I mind what I say online to make sure that it does not come back to bite me. Finally, I delete old and outdated posts of mine which I don’t need anymore.
– How do you show that you are listening thoughtfully? In what ways does your listening contribute to your understanding?
I find that I learn best when listening attentively to the teacher. I display my ways of listening thoughtfully by first stopping what I am doing. I then turn my head to the speaker and listen with both my eyes and ears making sure they have my full attention. Listening contributes to my understanding as it allows me to properly understand what is being asked and instructed. It may also help me remember details which may be necessary at a later time.
– How do you learn best?
I learn best by listening and paying attention in class. I am always giving my full attention to the speaker and writing down anything important they may say. I find that I also learn best by keeping organized in my notes as well as keeping on top of my work. I have also found that I am more focused in learning when I have my phone away as to not have it distract me. I also learn by discussing and asking questions with others.
– What helps you get new ideas?
I get new ideas by talking with my friends and asking for their opinions on subjects. I get new ideas from different types of media such as reading books and watching shows and movies. I get new ideas by taking new classes and learning on subjects I have not learned before. I get new ideas by taking up new tasks such as working at my job or learning to drive. I can also learn new ideas by going to new places such as where I travel to on vacation.
The overall purpose of this poem is to highlight all the reasons why the cucumber is an excellent fruit and why it is my personal favorite and deserves more love. The person I had in mind when writing this poem was my teacher Ms. Khokhar as I wrote it to contain several poetic devices. The personal element that is in my poem is my strong affection for cucumbers as I have listed several reasons for why it is one of my favorites with examples such as it being an excellent snack, as well as being healthy for you. When I first started planning what to write my poem about I landed on cucumbers due to the fact that I was eating one during this process. Shortly after, I began developing ideas on what features I should talk about to describe and landed on that they are great snacks, healthy for you, and refreshing as well as fun to eat. To allow this poem to be engaging as I created a interesting rhyme scheme to keep the readers entertained. For the purpose of integrating imagery I implemented several different lines that hit your senses. These are touch with the cucumber being crisp and watery, taste with it tasting like refreshing water, and sound as you can hear a crunch when you take a bite of the cucumber.
Creative Thinking Core Competency Reflection
I chose the subject of this poem to be a cucumber as it is one of my favorite fruits and I was eating one when I was thinking of what to write about. To form and develop my original ideas I just thought to myself what are some of the great features that make the cucumber an amazing fruit, with them being they are a healthy refreshing snack, and are fun to eat. To help stimulate my imagination I took a cucumber and just stared at it. One of the innovative aspect about my poem is that I created my own rhyme scheme going abccba abccba ddd. If I could improve my poem I would describe the appearance more.
I can use evidence to make simple judgments. I have shown that I can do this in accounting by using my senses and to gather information of where I went wrong in my entries and fix my errors if they do not balance out.
I can gather and combine new evidence with what I already know to develop reasoned conclusions, judgements, or plans. I have shown this by comparing my trial balance errors to the answer key to figure out where I went wrong and work towards fixing it by using what I know to correct my mistakes.
I can ask questions and consider options. I have shown that I can do this through the times that I have spent working with my classmates to compare trial balances in order to figure out the correct amounts.
