Evans Conics Project

In my conics Project I demonstrated my knowledges in the course by using various shapes and functions that we’ve learned previously to my advantage, such as radical functions, (in the eyebrows) circles, (which I cut into quarters at the top of the hair) ellipsis, (used in the eyebrows) sin waves, (which I used for the hair, nose, and lips) inverted hyperbole, (as the bridge of the nose) polynomial function to the degree of 4 (for the bottom of the goatee) and many more. I added color to the iris’s and the lips for a pop of color. I also used restrictions in almost every single function. In total I used exactly 55 individual graphs to achieve what you see above. As for the choice of a sin wave for the hair, I thought it would encapsulate a more realistic depiction of myself rather than how a broken-up, segmented, and blocky design would of. Instead of keeping everything perfectly symmetrical, I opted to keep some things off balance in a sense (such as the eyes, eyebrows, and hair) in order to make things seem a bit more realistic and look more human if you will.

A way that I excelled in this project is by discovering the use of replacing x with (x cos(c)-y sin(c)) and y with (x sin(c)+y cos(c)) where c is any integer. The usefulness of this method is that it allows you to rotate any function around point (0, 0) by changing the value of c. This allowed me to do some interesting things, such as rotating the ellipsis in the corner of the eyes which makes it look more realistic. I ended up using this trick in lots of places to get that perfect angle.

Chemistry 12 Self Assessment

I displayed creative thinking here with the making of the procedure. We were tasked with deriving the procedure using the observations made previously to be able to isolate an unknown solution. the procedure I derived was correct and I achieved a grade of P/D on the assignment which I am proud of. In order to save space and escape from redundancy I opted to use “Repeat step one into 5 new test tubes” instead of having to explain the full thing multiple times.

Critical Thinking Blog Post Pre-Cal 12

I wasn’t sure what to do with this question until I figured I could let t = cos(x) which helped immensely with understanding what to do next ie: factoring and cancelling.

I can gather and combine new evidence with what I already know to develop reasoned conclusions, judgments, or plans by trying different strategy’s. In this particular case I replaced cos(x) with t to more easily understand what is going on in the question and bring to light the strategy’s I already possessed.

A way I can grow in math is to just take it a lot of information from different sources such as Youtube, allowing me to have the tools necessary to figure out any problem that may arise.

Death of a Salesman Presentation

Death of a Salesman – Memory 2 Presentation.pptx

Core Competency Reflection

If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to talk it out and find a compromise which incorporates both of our ideas into our presentation. if they are no similarity’s between the two ideas I would bring up each idea and tell everyone that these were the two ideas we had for this and ask which one makes more sense to them.

An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is my journal entries. before I just did the journal entries because I was told to by my teacher but when we got to the “Death of a Salesman” unit I got a lot more interested in writing them. I poured extra time into making my journals and writing about what I found in my readings.

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I try to get to know them before starting any work. I ask their hobbies to see if we have any common interests, this helps us work together more cohesively.

In the future I would like to work on my creative thinking. To do this I will work on being able to generate better ideas. When it seems the good ideas just won’t come to me, I try to listen to music or meditate or do something completely different to help calm myself or create space in my mind so I can properly get the ideas I want to generate into my work.

Physics 12 Self Regulation

  1. Do you tend to be interoceptive or exteroceptive? I tend to focus on outside things so I would be described as exteroceptive.
  2. In order to go against the grain of my tendency’s, I think that meditating with my eyes closed with an interoceptive bias would be good.
  3. Specifically during or before a test, I sometimes panic and become hyper aware of my surroundings and in order to calm myself in that situation I would use an irregular form of breathing such as the double inhale method. Using an irregular form of breathing takes the focus on outside distractions and brings your focus within to calms oneself.
  4. in the morning, if I am too focused within and want to focus on the outside world, I would balance my inhales and exhales with a cyclic style of breathing to wake myself up and bring attention to those outside things.

English 11 Poetry Reflection

My Poem

Potato Poem

The sporadic spectacle of the spontaneous spud sparkled.

The asexual apparatus augments the soil.

Soon the potatoes will bloom.

The corporeal crop displayed its complexion,

Tan, red, purple, blue, green, and pink.

The stupendous starch was plucked from the earth.

Off on an adventure they say,

Through the USA, through to Canada.

To the bustling bougie boutique.

Selected, constrained, and purchased.

Escorted to the dwelling.

Boiled alive in a bubbling pot of death.

Blup, blurp, pop.

The soft flesh pierced through the heart.

Compressed, squeezed, squashed, pureed.

Set upon the table.

The taste was like an empty canvas

Sopped up by the meat.

Gorged upon, the omnivore was sated.

This is a poem about my favorite vegetable which goes into detail on its life cycle

Curricular Competencies Reflection.

a) The overall purpose of this poem was to express my love for the potato and why it is the best vegetable

b) My intended audience for this poem was for my teacher and for my future self to look back on when I show my kids my academic achievement

c) One element about this poem that relates to me personally is that it involves cooking which is a big part of my life

d) The way I planned, developed, and crafted this poem was to be engaging. Right off the bat I started the poem with big interesting words (sporadic, spectacle, spontaneous, apparatus) to grab the readers attention.

e) Imagery was a big part of my poem, some examples include… “The taste was like an empty canvas Sopped up by the meat.” I specifically use taste in this example and compare it to an empty canvas using a simile.

Creative Thinking Core Competency Reflection.

a) To choose the topic for my poem I used the prompt that my teacher supplied and chose my favorite vegetable.

b) I first brainstormed some ideas to put into my poem such as the idea to do the life cycle of the potato.

c) listening to music whilst writing my poem was one strategy I used to stimulate my imagination.

d) The whole concept of the life cycle of the poem and the interesting first few lines are in my opinion, innovative.

e) Next time I could give more detail

Mon Autobiographie

Curricular Competency Reflection

I used the notebooks I was given by my teacher and asked my friends about some words I did not know. Particularly, in our current unit, we are learning about the beach and weather. I took the knowledge I learned from it, and applied it to this assignment.

Core Competency Reflection\

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by asking engaging questions related to the topic.

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include extensive research on the topic at hand.

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I take a five minute break.

Revolution Timeline

Reflection

a) Yes, I was able to identify the problem with ease even though there are little to no problems with basketball at the moment. I just had to think back to when basketball did have problems. To find the problem I went back to when basketball was first invented when the ball used was just a soccer ball. To find the solution I looked at certain articles and websites to find what they did to improve on the game.

b) Yes, in the future I think it’s very possible for the NBA to add a four-point line. Yes, the innovation was very easy to think of.

c) Yes, I was satisfied with my addition of the four-point line and the removal of the three-point line.

d) To refine my assignment in the future I would probably find other ways to improve the game mechanics to make the sport more enjoyable to watch
