Cooking at home #7

For cooking at home 7, I chose to make poke bowls. This is something I often make with my mom and dad at both houses. I really like sushi and poke bowls are just easier to make but similar. I like sushi rice better than normal rice because of its sweeter taste and sticky consistency. For this meal, first I had to cook the rice. It’s almost the same as regular white rice except you have to add the sushi rice seasoning in and I eye it. Next, I had to prepare all the toppings by slicing them really small. Normally we have more variety of toppings but because of COVID we had the basics, cucumber, sushi salmon, carrots and seasoned seaweed flakes. I also like my salmon with more flavour so I marinate it for an hour in soy sauce before eating it. My family makes this very often so when I made it, it tasted really good. Poke is something I will never get sick of. Next time I make this I will make sure to get more toppings like corn, mango, and pineapple. I also would like to find newer toppings to try, and maybe a new sauce. Something I struggled with this time was cutting the sockeye salmon. Normally I used the fattier salmon which I was used to, sockeye salmon falls apart easier in my opinion especially because we had it in the freezer.
