Cooking at Home Option 1 – Using What You Already Have

I made steamed eggs. It is soft, mild, little a bit salty, tasteless (if you do not put any seasonings) and bland. If I make it again, I do not want to put the vegetables. I will put just eggs. My great success is I chopped the carrots and chives better than my last time cooking. Also, I am proud of myself because I learned how to cook my favourite dish. I wanted to eat this food while I live here.

Cooking at Home – Using What You Already Have

I made the Stir-fried Rice Cake with black-bean-source. In my fridge, there were rice cakes, onions, potatoes and black-bean-powder. I cooked for myself and my roommate. It was a little bit salty, chewy, sweet, mild, savoury and plain. I trimmed and chopped a whole onion by myself and after my eyes were hurt. Also, I cooked a complex dish without adults helping. So this cooking experience was good for me to increase my food skills.

Kitchen Tools/Appliances

Omelet

It was my first Omelet that I made. I sliced up the cherry tomatoes and spinach using the knife. I was so nervous, but I did it successfully. The picture does not see taste good and it looks ugly, but I think it was not bad for a beginner. Also, I used the stove to cook Omelet. Poured the egg and put the last ingredients. Lastly, I folded the round egg in half using a spatula. It was a good cooking experience.

I think spatula is most useful when we cook. I can use it when we cook any food. I can fry and fold the food using the spatula. Moreover, cooking with a spatula is an easier way. Because I just fried foods.

Communication

It is banana muffins. I made it with my partner. I had seriously never made muffins. So my partner helped me make muffins well. My group members helped us with how to make it. I was so thankful because there were many skills required to make muffins. Moreover, I can’t speak English well. There were some language barriers. Consequently, my partner and I made such delicious muffins.

Also, we have 4 roles: washing dishes, drying dishes, special unit and unit manager. We communicated about how to organize dishes and cooking stuff. Therefore, we usually finish organizing and checking with the teacher.

My most memorable food experience

Malcha Bingsu

One of the most memorable food experiences is when I was going to the mall in Canada, a few days ago, I ate the Malcha Bingsu. Bingsu means ice flakes with syrup. I took this picture before I ate. It was so delicious, there were green tea, chestnut, red bean and blended ice. I don’t know what is the square-shaped food, I think these are rice cake. I like it because I’m hard to eat red bean foods. In Korea, we usually eat red beans. It tastes strong green tea. I think if you don’t like strong green tea, I don’t recommend to eat this. But I like this cold and strong green tea foods. I want to go to the mall again for eating Malcha Bingsu. However, it was so expensive. I think it has too many foods. Therefore, It taste was so good.
