Show and Tell Presentation Reflection and Self- Assessment

Curricular Response

I did my show and tell presentation on the topic of fear in childhood stories. I spoke about the benefits and harmful effects of this on young children to help my peers make a decision on whether it is beneficial for young children to read. I think that the greatest strength of my presentation was that I made sure that my peers were engaged with the topic. I did this by asking them many questions and also getting them thinking about the topic by showing a story and having them analyze it. I think this helped to ensure that they were interested and involved in what I was talking about. If I was to do this assignment again in the future, I would choose a different topic. I would make this choice as my topic wasn’t very broad which meant it was difficult to find lots of interesting information on it. I would also choose to include different activities that my peers would enjoy doing.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

I chose to research this topic for my presentation by brainstorming many different ideas. I decided to research about fear in childhood stories because it seemed very interesting, and I was curious about the effects that it had on young children. I also decided to research it because we learned a bit about it in class and I wanted to gain more knowledge on the subject. Some strategies that I used to help me collect relevant information for my presentation was to look at a variety of reliable websites. This helped me to get information from many different opinions and also helped me to form my own opinion on the topic. Another strategy was that I consulted different resources such as news articles and YouTube videos, which gave me lots of information that was easy to understand.
