Josh’s final blog (curry chicken with my nana)

I planned this meal to be, a meal that brings people together via sharing. It is meant to be a sharable food. It is an all savory food with a side of soup to go with it. It smells declicious, and tastes even better. The end product was even more delicious than I expected. The chicken was nice and juicy, and not overcooked and dry, since I used mainly chicken thighs over breasts. The potatoes provided a nice contrast in flavor and texture, and the small kick that the habenero added was really good. Also the peppers provided some crunchyness, and color to the dish. While making this dish, I showed my knife skills, by flatening round vegetables, like potatoes before cutting them on the board, I also showed a lot of cooking while cleaning, and showed good time management, by having more than 1 burner going at the same time for the curry chicken, and the rice. This dish is a meal that is meant to bring people together, My nana starting making it in Kingston Jamaica, when she was 12 for her many other siblings, all alone. She learned this from the older generation, and that generation, learned it from the older one. My nana is actually my grandfathers mom, which makes her my great grandmother so she is 3 generations ahead of me. And she has perfected this dish, by making it over and over throughout her whole life, and that is why she does not need a recipe, and when I get older, I will probably make this dish for my kids aswell, like she did for her kids and siblings. and the same goes for the soup, that she also was making as a kid in Kingston, Jamaica.
