Collaborating in CLE 10

Interview Question Jenga

I contribute during group activities, cooperate with others, and listen respectfully to their ideas. I can work with others for a specific purpose.

In this group activity, we were to play Jenga with peers we might not have been previously familiar with. Instead of normal Jenga, there were numbers on the block where we would have to answer a corresponding interview question, so we would take turns pulling out a block from the tower and answering. This is a great example of this Core Competency statement, as I was answering questions during my turn while listening to others as they answered as well. My group’s tower lasted for the entire block, as we worked together to attempt to pull blocks out carefully.

A challenge I encountered during this activity was the feeling of discomfort with my peers. I did not know any of my group mates well, so it felt a bit awkward answering the questions especially since they were quite personal. However, as more turns passed, I started to feel more at ease.

This skill is important to everyday life as we are constantly forced to talk to new people in specific settings. We can apply these skills in places such as school or work whether it be talking to coworkers, classmates, teachers, or managers. While working collaboratively with others, it’s great to be open to build a sense of comfort and trust, increasing your ability to communicate effectively and maximize objective results.
