Genetics Unit – Beginning

Should genes be allowed to be owned by anyone? Why or why not?

I think that genes should not be owned, more specifically scientists/discoverers. First of all your genes are specifically yours so I personally think that if genes are owned you should own your own even if you didn’t know you had them. If a scientist discovered something to do with someone else’s genes they would technically own it but it’s still not right since it didn’t originally belong to them. Some people might want to keep their genes disclosed since they might have mutations that could affect their lives. I think overall no one should own genes because if everyone could have that access we could probably discover more and maybe even find cures.
