Creating a Positive Digital Footprint
This is an infographic I created on Canva. I tend to use Canva when doing projects like this because it has a large variety of useful tools. In this infographic I included important concepts of a digital footprint like what it is, why it’s important to have be aware of your own digital footprint, how to manage it and more. At the bottom corner I added the links of where I got all my information from.
Personal/Social Competency Reflection
I think my experiences as a digital citizen, such as being on social media during the beginning of the lockdown has influenced my hobby, baking/cooking. During lockdown, all of us were unable to leave the house, unless it was absolutely necessary. The only thing we could do was go online and look at old things we could do no more, which is what I did. Being on social media let me see what others were doing with their time during quarantine, and what caught my eye was baking/cooking at home. Learning how to cook and bake helped me become more comfortable and excited for Foods 10. It also fed my motivation to put effort into the course.
My online support network is helpful to me because they can relate to problems which people I talk to a daily in real life cannot. I would say online, in a lot of cases, it is a bigger and faster chance for me to find someone to help me with a problem I have because of the wider range of people. There have been times when I would have questions I am not comfortable talking about face to face with someone, so I could go anonymous online to find someone who can give me answers. Or, if I just needed an answer right away for a simple question. I could just do a quick Google search and have an answer on the spot.
Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include always checking the privacy settings on my social media accounts, double checking information that I put online and reminding myself to act as if everyone were seeing it (things like posts, bios, comments…), etc. I try my best to use the things I learned from school about online safety.
