I manage stress in my life in many different ways, some more effective than others. To me, technology is both one of my causes and coping mechanisms for my stress. Whenever I feel stressed, I can FaceTime my friends or listen to music and they both help me calm down and feel less overwhelmed. I use FaceTime as a little break and once I’m finished I feel like I can focus better on my work. I like to listen to music while I do my work as well, because its distracts me from random noises in my house and helps me focus. Technology becomes one the causes of my stress when I become addicted to it. When I try to do my work and I open my phone once, I waste all my time on my phone not realizing how much time has passed. Technology also causes stress when I’m trying to go to bed but I can’t get off my phone and it’s keeping me awake. It makes me lose sleep which causes my to feel stressed and tired the next day. I’ve learned to set limits on my social media apps so I don’t go on them for a long period of time, and they’ve really been helping me limit my screen time.
