American Revolution Timeline

Reflection:

I made sure the sources I used in this assignment were credible. This is because the sites I used had certain symbolism such as a check mark on the side of the site name. I also made sure that I used sources that I knew some of my teachers had used in the past. In addition, I chose the medium I used based on the effects I could apply on the assignment. Therefore, I used Canva which I found to be quite user-friendly. With that being said, if I could change anything in the future I would probably add more interactive parts to it. In the end, I was fairly satisfied with my design.

My Digital Footprint

Digital Footprint: A trail of data a person creates as a result of online activity

Reflection:

When I searched my name on google, I was not surprised about the results. I play sports, mainly football, so I found old photos and newspaper articles of teams I have played on. These did not surprise me because I knew that they existed. I also checked the social media platforms of family members and friends, and I found appropriate photos from past events. Furthermore, as I searched my name, I did not seem to find any old posts on old online platforms that I thought might appear there. However, I try not to be on social media often, so I somewhat expected this result.

In my opinion, I would say my existing digital footprint contributes to the online community. This is because it tells others a little about me as a person. When someone searches me, it will be immediately known that I am involved in athletics. In addition, I am aware of past posts and comments, and I try to always make these positive and uplifting. Hopefully, I will continue to remain a responsible digital citizen.

A person’s digital footprint can affect their online reputation both negatively and positively. With this in mind, I know that future opportunities could be eliminated because of a foolish mistake. Therefore, I remind myself to conduct my online behavior with caution because it could affect how some universities view me. As a student-athlete, I also realize that college teams are looking for responsible individuals on top of good performance. Furthermore, job applications could be ignored if there are red flags regarding past online usage. These are all strong reminders of why I need to maintain a positive digital footprint.

Speech Unit Reflection

During this assignment, I learned a lot about making informative podcasts. At the beginning, I was able to learn about podcast-recording websites such as anchor or audacity. I eventually decided to use anchor for my assignment. This is a tool that I will likely use again for future projects. In addition, the strategies that I used during my research, involved immediately recording sources I had found after reading them. This helped me remember to later cite them in MLA format using EasyBib (bibliography generator). I found the Gale Topic Finder and Google Advanced Search Engine especially helpful when I conducted my research. These helped me narrow down the articles that I could use. Lastly, I feel I could improve my research for the next assignment by finding more statistical data on the topic to add on my research paper as evidence for an argument.

My Self-Portrait

Reflection

My visual representation is innovative because it shows all of the places that have moulded me into who I am today. I also included a background that shows outer space which represents the complex values that these places have taught me.

The ideas I used in this project were developed when I thought about the past experiences in my life. I then turned the main topic of my self portrait to talk about how the many places I have lived in and visited have influenced me on how I should live.

I also really liked how I could show clippings of my important places in the visual representation. It was interesting how I could get an image of myself, and add it into the middle of the portrait to complete it.

Furthermore, I feel I could improve my self-portrait by adding more subtle symbols or elements that have intricate meanings.

In my opinion, this project helped me learn how to incorporate my creative ability into the portrait. This is because I learned how to move items around and add certain applications to make the portrait stand out. It also taught me some patience, as their are many options that have to be carefully looked at to make the project come together.

Insta-Scientist Assignment (Galileo Galilei)

I chose Galileo because he was a pioneer in the field of physics and is dubbed the “Father of Modern Science”. He also has a memorable name, as I remember hearing it as a lyric on a famous Queen song, Bohemian Rhapsody. In addition, Galileo is a large figure in astronomy, which is something that interests me.
