Creating a Positive Digital Footprint
Personal/Social Competency Reflection
Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include setting a time limit for myself on certain apps. I find that doing this helps me stay off social media and allows me to connect with the real world. Not only that, but I am able to get a satisfactory amount of sleep every night. Another strategy I found made a difference in my life was spending most of my social media time talking with friends. This is extremely beneficial for my mental health considering that it is one of our only options for communication during this pandemic. Whether it is Snapchat, Facetime, or text, it still has a great advantage to it.
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are putting in the same amount of effort as each other and having a steady rhythm of communication. Every relationship relies on two people who care enough to put in work, meaning one person cannot carry the whole connection on their back. It is reassuring on both sides of the relationship when you know that you both care for each other the same way.
By using my social media platform to spread awareness for important issues online, I make a positive difference to my peers. There are so many important topics such as Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate that need to be known. When someone shares issues like these online, it causes their peers to see it and post it themselves. This then creates a major chain reaction, letting the problem be heard all throughout the world. This is one of the reasons I am so grateful for having social media these days.
