My Digital Footprint

When I Googled my name I wasn’t surprised by what I saw. I don’t really post often and when I do, I’m careful about what I post. Usually it is photos of football or lacrosse related. Sometimes, I post things like new shoes or my Funko Pop figurine collection.

I don’t really have a large digital footprint. I feel that I am cautious about what I post and comment on. My comments on friends’ posts are usually to congratulate them or to say, “that’s cool” or “that’s nice.” Actually, I usually use the flame emoji.

My Hudl (sports highlights and film clips) account, which is the only thing that really pops up when you Google my name, is possibly one area where the Control of my Identity might be weak. My Hudl account lets people know what school I go to and what city it is in.

I don’t think my digital footprint will affect me in a bad way. With my Hudl account being online, it allows schools and coaches to see what I’m able to do in football ad lacrosse. This could help get athletic scholarships to universities.

My digital footprint will not affect my family and friends because there are no embarrassing photos of me online. Also, I do not really post very much. I scroll through Instagram and TikTok just so I could look at pictures and videos.

3 strategies–

-set privacy settings to limit who can follow you on social media

-keep opinions and comments on other people’s post appropriate (not rude and appropriate language)

Make sure anything you post will not affect yourself, family and friends in a bad way (you want to post things that represent you in a positive way)

I would tell other students not to do stupid things and then post them on social media (eg. Doing drugs or drinking)
