Life Saving Measures

Naloxone: Naloxone kits can save people who have overdosed. If you suspect or think that someone has overdosed, you should give the person Naloxone. Even if the person did not overdose, the Naloxone will not harm the victim. You have to inject the Naloxone into a large muscle area, like the upper arm, buttocks, or thigh. It might take around 3-5 minutes for the Naloxone to kick in. Some kits may come with Nasal Sprays, which then, you would spray into the victim’s nostril. Naloxone will work in the body for 30-90 minutes, so it is important to call emergency and make sure the victim gets treated in a medical facility.

This is a really important topic, because overdoses can happen anywhere. Now I have knowledge about Naloxone kits, and I hope that I will never have to use one, but if I do, now I would know how to use it.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection

I can analyze evidence to make judgements: I can analyze the evidence, if someone has overdosed (not breathing, skin colour change…etc.) and take action using a Naloxone Kit.

Core Competency Goals

Some skills I have used to make my creative abilities better are: One of my goals for this semester is to use my creative abilities to its fullest. This semester most of my classes require creative thinking skills. For example, film/tv, I will need to create my own films and to do that I have to brainstorm and plan ahead of time. Writing my ideas down, studying, and visualizing what I want will help me with my creative thinking process.

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in: In any class that I’m in, I want to speak clearly and purposefully. One of my goals is to be able to go out of my way to communicate with people. I do this already quite a bit, but I feel like I could improve and talk to more people.

I show others that I truly value their contributions by: Another goal I have for this year is to be not only a better speaker, but more importantly a better listener. When you listen to what people have to say in group collaborations, or just in general, it shows that you respect them, and that you are willing to work together to be successful in the project. When a team doesn’t listen to each other, you end up being lost.

Social Studies 10 Reflection

World War One Soldier Letter

Socials Reflection

Self Reflection

  1. This assignment shows my creative writing skills, and understanding of a WW1 Soldier.
  2. Creative Thinking: I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others.
  3. I chose this assignment because I felt like I did a pretty good job on it.
  4. I learned about the struggles and terror that the soldiers had to go through in WW1, especially in the trenches.

Core Competency Reflection

  1. I am kind to others, and support others when they need it, I showed this when I worked in group activities, I contributed and tried to get others to contribute to the projects.
  2. I demonstrate respectful, inclusive behaviour, I showed this when I sat in different groups, with different peers, and tried to greet them.
  3. I can persevere over time to develop my ideas, and I expect setbacks and failure, but use that to develop my ideas, I showed this when I had to write paragraphs for tests by making a rough copy on a separate piece of paper, then improving on my good copy.
  4. I can ask open-ended questions to gather information, I showed this by asking questions during lessons/note taking.

I can improve on “I participate in classroom or group activities that improve the class, school, or community.” Though I ask questions once in a while, I could participate a little more. To improve, I have to continue to fight my nervousness and have a little more confidence in myself.

Math Self Assessment

Self Assessment Prompts

  1. By helping my friends with their math, I make a positive difference to my peers.
  2. Some of the ways I work to maintain relationships are by being friendly, helpful, and listen when they speak.
  3. When I need to boost my mood or refocus sometimes I listen to music.
  4. To celebrate an accomplishment such as doing well on a test, I try not to boast, but I let my family know that I did well.

Guitar

Performance/Activity

I am proud of my performance on the Guitar Song of Choice test, I chose the song “Rhiannon”. This song requires some fingerstyle skills, because you have to use more than one finger to strum the guitar strings.

Curricular and Core Competencies Reflections

Curricular Reflection: I have improved on my fingerstyle skills, this was shown when I played “Rhiannon” for the Guitar Song of Choice test. I have also improved with my playing speed ,playing songs that I did in my past 2 guitar classes faster than before. Though I have improved in some areas, such as with my fingerstyle skills and speed, I can still improve on top of that. When you play the guitar, you can almost always improve in one area. I need to improve on playing bar cords, riffs, and even on my fingerstyle skills some more. I plan on improving these areas of guitar through consistent practice, and music playing through out my future.

Core Competencies Reflection: I chose the Communication Core Competency, because though I have improved on my playing skills, I have also improved on my group playing/communication skills. Me and my group had to play an “Outsiders Blues” tune, and we did pretty well. We communicated with each other successfully, figuring out our strengths and weaknesses, and put our skills together making an excellent performance. One of the most important key points to success in a group activity, is to listen to your piers.

My Digital Footprint

How I contribute to the online community:

My YouTube channel is based on gaming. My YouTube videos are intended to show people online what a game looks like, and what my feedback is. In this way I contribute to the online community. If someone was wondering what a game looks like, they can look at my channel and see if the game they were looking for is on it, though sometimes I may just post a video to show my skill on a particular game.

How might my Digital Footprint affect my future opportunities?:

Even though I think my YouTube channel may not do me much of a favour in Career invitations, I have a chance in getting my channel popular enough that I may start getting money for creating videos, maybe through sponsers?
