Social Studies 10 Reflection

World War One Soldier Letter

Socials Reflection

Self Reflection

  1. This assignment shows my creative writing skills, and understanding of a WW1 Soldier.
  2. Creative Thinking: I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others.
  3. I chose this assignment because I felt like I did a pretty good job on it.
  4. I learned about the struggles and terror that the soldiers had to go through in WW1, especially in the trenches.

Core Competency Reflection

  1. I am kind to others, and support others when they need it, I showed this when I worked in group activities, I contributed and tried to get others to contribute to the projects.
  2. I demonstrate respectful, inclusive behaviour, I showed this when I sat in different groups, with different peers, and tried to greet them.
  3. I can persevere over time to develop my ideas, and I expect setbacks and failure, but use that to develop my ideas, I showed this when I had to write paragraphs for tests by making a rough copy on a separate piece of paper, then improving on my good copy.
  4. I can ask open-ended questions to gather information, I showed this by asking questions during lessons/note taking.

I can improve on “I participate in classroom or group activities that improve the class, school, or community.” Though I ask questions once in a while, I could participate a little more. To improve, I have to continue to fight my nervousness and have a little more confidence in myself.

Guitar

Performance/Activity

I am proud of my performance on the Guitar Song of Choice test, I chose the song “Rhiannon”. This song requires some fingerstyle skills, because you have to use more than one finger to strum the guitar strings.

Curricular and Core Competencies Reflections

Curricular Reflection: I have improved on my fingerstyle skills, this was shown when I played “Rhiannon” for the Guitar Song of Choice test. I have also improved with my playing speed ,playing songs that I did in my past 2 guitar classes faster than before. Though I have improved in some areas, such as with my fingerstyle skills and speed, I can still improve on top of that. When you play the guitar, you can almost always improve in one area. I need to improve on playing bar cords, riffs, and even on my fingerstyle skills some more. I plan on improving these areas of guitar through consistent practice, and music playing through out my future.

Core Competencies Reflection: I chose the Communication Core Competency, because though I have improved on my playing skills, I have also improved on my group playing/communication skills. Me and my group had to play an “Outsiders Blues” tune, and we did pretty well. We communicated with each other successfully, figuring out our strengths and weaknesses, and put our skills together making an excellent performance. One of the most important key points to success in a group activity, is to listen to your piers.
