The Simpsons

My Analysis

Creating and Communication

In this unit we learned the definition of irony, satire, and allusion. We were also shown an example of how they are used. I used examples from the Simpsons to support my points. An example of this would be when I was talking about irony I gave the example of Homer being thrown out of his burning house then landing on a mattress and sousing back into the house. I had a strong introduction sentence and used the “less is more” rule.

Core Competency Reflection

I can describe how satire, irony and/or allusion relates to my day to day life. An examples of this would be when I am having a conversation with my friends, watching tv shows, and lessening to music. I am sarcastic a lot and that is a form of irony.

I can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my own work; evidence of that is that I’m using what I learned in class to improve my writing. Example of this is indenting when I start a paragraph and writing notes on a separate piece of paper before I start writing.

I seek, develop and weigh options as demonstrated by this piece of writing. we were asked to find 3 examples of irony, satire, and allusion in the Simpsons and I choses one from the 3 and used it in my writing to support my points and make it stronger.
