About this activity..

This was our first “big” project in the course worth a good amount of marks. We had the option to either do it as a solo assignment or with a partner, of course I chose to partner with my bestfriend, Anaka. we had to create a document of laws and how we would run our government if the class was in a plan crash and was deserted on a island, we were put in charge. The project was conssited of two parts, we were to speak about our laws and government, then we were to compare it to a previous legal systems as-well as the current Canadian legal system.

personal and social: I can identify and describe my qualities.

During this project I was able to identify and communicate that I had a creative mind to make certain laws and legal codes.

Creative Thinking: I can develop a body of creative work over time.

Throughout this project we needed to be creative and create many laws and ideas, at times we were at mind blocks and had to click into our creative sides.

Communication: I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener.

This project was done with my partner and in order to do that i needed to be active and good listener to her contributions to the project.

Social awareness and responsibility: I can find it easy to be apart of a group.

I worked very well with anaka on this assignments we equally contributed, I listened to her idea and she did with mine.

My goal is to be able to make this statement, “I can encourage others to share their voices and value diverse perspectives.”

If I had done this project with anyone else I don’t think I would have the same result as I did when doing it with anaka. I have a hard time encourage people I am not every close with and I can sometimes be stubborn. My goal is to become more diverse and challenge myself, a way I can do that is not always patterning with a friend and hearing what they have to say.

Communication, thinking, and personal

During the digestion unit my self and as-well as my class were given the opportunity to dissect a piggy! During this dissection I had 2 partners, Colin and Nicole. Originally we only need one partner so having 3 of us communication was key. We needed to communicate when and where we wanted to cut, if we wanted to dissect during lunch, and where we though certain Organs/body parts were. Thinking we also a big part, i needed to think where the organs were when i was cutting, how they all connected together. When cutting out the digestive system i needed to think what was apart of it and what was the best game plan to cut it out. After dissecting the digestive system, we didn’t now how to pull apart the intestine due to being all stuck together it took my partners and I a bit of thinking but finally figured it out, it was actually pretty to easy to pull apart but we were just extra cautious to not make a mistake . A big part about working with other people is personal awareness, I needed to make sure i was there during labs and listening to understand so I could be a good partner and to be good for myself so if i had any questions I could ask them. It was also making sure to study for the lab exam, if i didn’t study for it I could pull not just myself down but also my partners.

Creative Thinking

During foods we had he opportunity to have bit of freedom with our recipes, we had 4 soups to choose from as well as, what type of grilled cheese we wanted. The way I used my creative thinking in this lab was I made an amazing and different grilled cheese sandwich, I’ve been so used to plain old grilled cheese which is still delicious but I wanted to make one on the sweeter side this time. I thought of my favourite cheese which is brie, then i did more research and decided to use marmalade and cinnamon raisin bread, look I know it sounds weird but it worked! I ended up making a a cinnamon raisin marmalade grilled cheese, wow, thats a mouth full. On to the soup, my partner and I decided on tomato soup which is a no brainer for us, but I did go out side of the recipe a bit and added a little bit of sugar to help with that bitterness and flavour. overall this was a great lab and I enjoyed i very much!

Critical and Reflective thinking

Narratives in the new was a assignment which i did well on, i took the time to understand the images and text we analyzed. I was able to understand this assignment using critical and reflective thinking, i considered what these images meant and their significants and made logical judgements on them. my strengths are having many opinions but not knowing how to converse it in words, i have a hard time with this and need to take some time on working with that. this assignment is an example of me writing my thinking out in a proper way and is an assignment i can look at references for future assignments.

Collaborating

My artifact is a written dialogue on going to eat at a restaurant . my partner and I had very good communication throughout this assignment. We both collaborated to creatively is come up with dialogue. We encouraged one another to stay focused and come up with dialogue that was organized and understandable .

The Writing Process

The easiest thing for me was reading the book, I love to read. Although my anxiety did get in the way when time came to present. I surprised myself when I presented because I spoke clearly and had a full understanding of what to say and how to say it. While I was presenting it was such a rush, and reading were the two that I most enjoyed about this assignment. The parts I didn’t enjoy was the written part, I am not the writer type. The thing I learned is not to be afraid to present, I did the work and knew what needed to be done so no need to worry.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I grad a snack, usually fruit and water. I respectfully advocate for my needs by asking politely. I have valuable ideas to share about when I did this assignment and do so by gathering my information and inbeing it in my brain. To celebrate an accomplishment such as getting good grade on my assignment , I buy a smoothie from my favorite smoothie bar. I am willing to explore controversial issues such as my book based on WWll in order to imagine and work toward change in myself or the world, including what is happening in the Ukraine currently. Some short/ long term goals for myself include not procrastinating and my plan to achieve them by leaving my devices when its time to do my homework. I show others that I truly value their contributions by giving the positive feedback and contributing if I can. I show that I value feedback from others in my group by acknowledging that I appreciate it. If my partner is not productive, we can sit down and have a conversation in order to get things moving in the right direction. When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, i ask them to tell me about themselves or make respective jokes to make them laugh. My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include researching them and taking notes. Evidence that I can acquire information about complex and specialized topics from various sources, synthesize it, and present it with thoughtful analysis can be found in my notes and bibliography. Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in my in class presentations. In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by listening and sharing my ideas. The ways I communicate at school differs from how I communicate at home in these ways: I am more comfortable, and a homebody.

My Goal

Going forward i hope to become more confident with note taking and written assignments.
