Media Fluency Reflection

A. How was the ease of access in building your flipbook, despite this being the free and limited version of the software?

When I first opened the flipsnack website, I was very puzzled because it was my first time actually trying it out. As I used it was very easy to use after a little bit of a practice and watching the video that the student leadership made. Considering this as a free software, I think it’s a four and half star if I had to rate it.

B. Were you able to apply the skills you learned in the planning stages appropriately to a digital environment?

Yes I was able to apply the skills I have learned in the planning stages in order to use the software appropriately. Applying the skills I learned in the planning stage gave me a lot of advantage to work with the software. I was able to use the software with ease.

C. What were the sources you researched that made this an “authentic make-believe” American Revolution flipbook?

For some characters I have used the notes I’ve taken during the class. For example, George Washington and Boston Tea Party. However, rest of the leaders I chose, I had to do some research to find facts about them. I also tried to avoid using the Wikipedia.

D. Is there other software online that could have done the job better? Did you use another software instead? Explain.

There is one online software that is often and easily used by a lot of people. I personally prefer this software called Powerpoint than flipsnack because Powerpoint has very simple instructions that let us know before we use the software. On the other hand, flipsnack doesn’t have any instructions to guide us to actually use the software which probably gave other people a little difficulties like how I did. However, I tried my best to figure out how to use it either by asking my friends or watching the student leadership video about the flipsnack access and it turned out that it was actually very easy to use.
