Today we did an experiment on cheek cells in the lab. We started by scraping the inside of our cheeks with a toothpick, then we smudged it over a clean slide. After that, we dropped a single dip of blue stain and then covered the slide with a clear slip. Lastly we put it under a microscope and use the three different powers to magnify.

I noticed that the three different powers had a bit of difference to them, but overall are pretty much the same. With the low magnification (the bottom right), you could kind of see the cells and membranes. With the medium magnification (bottom left), it gets a bit clearer. But with the high magnification (top middle), the picture turned out really detailed and easy to label.

It was a great experiment, and I was somewhat disgusted by my own cells. I found that it was hard to focus on high power, but quite easy for the low and medium powers. The picture above had almost no difference than looking at it in real life. Which was very interesting because I thought the picture version would be much blurrier.
