Cooking at Home-Family Traditions

I made a chicken vegetable porridge and my mom always make these on cold days or when someone is sick. It tastes very “soft”, warm, and like chicken, it smells hot and like warm chicken, the texture is thick and mushy. I’m not exactly sure when this tradition started, but I remember that my grandma would make a lot of this porridge during winter and when someone got sick, and then I remember my mom started to makes this porridge a lot too. I think the meaning behind it for me is that family will always be there for you when you’re sick, when you’re feeling down, etc. and I think the same thing goes out for the rest of the family members. The best part about this tradition is that the dish is very delicious and is worth all the hard work to make it! Challenges I had to overcome is picking all the meat from the chicken because it’s very tiring and hard when the chicken is hot. I overcame this by waiting for the chicken to cool down and my mom helping me. The greatest success for this dish would definitely be the seasoning and the consistency because it tasted just like the one my mom makes. What I’m most proud of during this experience is that I got to learn how to make this porridge.
