Problem:

Our family’s problem is that everyone is home and out of the house at different times. We don’t have a thought out schedule and our household is very unorganized which leaves us always in a rush.

Solution:

We have made a set meal plan which allows us to be more organized as a family. This schedule also allows us to eat together as a family and all have an even amount of cooking over the course of the week.

Justification:

On Monday Parent B will be cooking Garlic butter chicken with lemon asparagus. This is a good choice because it is a more complicated meal for a more experienced cook. This is also a good choice because it is a tasty recipe perfect for leftovers the day after and makes it easier for the less experienced cook.

On Tuesday Teen 2 will be making grilled cheese sandwiches as a snack. This is a good choice because there is already leftovers made and teen 2 only needs to worry about himself considering teen 2 is the least experienced. This is also a good choice because teen 2 needs to be somewhere after dinner so there is not to much clean up and work to deal with.

On Wednesday Teen 1 will be cooking Firecracker chicken. This is a good choice because it’s one of the family’s favourite dinners to eat and it isn’t to complex so it suits the cooks skill level very well. It is also a good choice because there isn’t much time to eat on Wednesday but the meal is easy to pack up and eat on the go if you run out of time.

On Thursday Parent A will be making Vegetable pad thai. This is a good choice because it makes the perfect amount of food for the family and it is a new healthy meal for the family to try out with and experienced cook to prepare it.

On Friday Parent B will be making Candied bacon burgers and a raspberry oreo dessert. This is a good choice because they are having people over for dinner and the meal being made suits parent B’s skill level very well. I also think this is a good choice because parent B is home early enough to cook the whole meal without a rush, plus who does like a good burger.

Collaboration Reflection:

My group communicated and shared information with each other by creating a shared word document and talking to each other during class. We also asked each other questions and worked on the paper copy of this assignment together using our class time wisely. My group used technology by creating our shared word document which was quite helpful for me when I missed a couple of days of school. Technology didn’t really make anything in this project more difficult it more so helped us do our best on this project. In our group our tasks weren’t really divided up, I found that we worked better as a group and we mostly did everything together helping each other along the way. Some of the tasks we completed were creating our table on word and planning out when people are going to cook and what times would work better for certain people in the family. In our solution, you can tell my contribution by looking at the new recipes not given to us and looking at the Monday and Thursday column. I looked up and found the new recipes that were added to our project for extra credit and I mostly completed the Monday and Thursday column on my own.

Some things I think about before dividing tasks among group members include what are the best ways people work and can contribute the most. I also think about what ways people work better whether it is on there own or working all together, what will bring our group to be successful. I know the group is working well when our work is being completed to it’s fullest ability. I can also tell our group is working well when we are finished all of our work on time or even early if possible.

Critical Thinking:

I used evidence to make judgements or decisions as demonstrated in this activity by figuring out new ways to problem solve and succeed in the work I do or participate in such as creating a more logical plan if I feel like one idea is better that another or asking a question to fully understand something. I remain open minded as I explore viable options or alternative approaches, like when we had written down people for our meals on a certain day and there was someone else that fit the place better. We re-evaluated and planned out a better and more suitable plan so our project worked out more smoothly.
