Meal plan assignment

Problem:

This family of four is a busy family. They have after school activities and the parents often work till 5 and sometimes later. They have to find way to make dinner and eat it before they all leave again. This graph shows a way they can eat filling delicious meals, all together as a family enjoying each other’s company.

Solution:

I feel our meal plan works really well. Every dish and meal is thought about carefully taking in consideration that each family members has different obstacles to get throw, for an example teen 2 struggles with cooking and needs easy meals or some one home to help. When I heard this I went throw the schedule and found a time where they can cook when the parents are home so if they have a question or need to have some one keep an eye on them then the parents are near.

Justification:

Walking tacos: The taco recipe I picked had a portion serving of 8. The family plans to have it for lunch on Thursday because they are often out of food and like a fast thing to grab in the morning for lunch. I picked walking tacos as the family dish for Wednesday because it was quick, simple and easy. It said that teen 2 only cooks simple meals unless with a parent, so I gave them something simple but if they need help the parents are home to lend a hand. All they have do is cook the meat and cut some veggies.

Pan roasted steak: We have doubled the pan roasted steak dinner because we will be using the extras for Friday’s dinner. For Friday’s dinner we will be make fried rice with are leftovers. Teen 1 will be cooking on that day because they are the first home. I picked a steak meal for my family dinner. I will start cooking at 4:15, the meal should take about an hour and should be ready at 6:45. I decided to double the recipe and use the left Overs to make a stir fry for dinner the next day

Pizza: The pizza serves eight people, and this is a family of four. The teens can use the left-over pizza for lunch tomorrow at school or later in the evening, in case they still feel hungry. I chose homemade pepperoni pizza for the family dinner on Monday night because as a parent, it’s a simple and loveable dish. Parent B would arrive home around 5:30pm and start cooking around 6pm so they’ll be able to have a 30-minute break to rest before preparing dinner. The pizza would be ready for 6:30 and Parent A leaves for an evening activity at 8pm. In that logic, they would have 1 hour, 15 minutes to all eat dinner together as a family which means they wouldn’t be rushed.

Mac and Cheese : I chose macaroni and cheese as their family dish for Tuesday because Parent A had enough time to make a long enjoyable dish since they get home from work at 5pm. The dish takes 55 minutes to make so Parent A can start at 5:30pm and finish at 6:25pm which is good for all of their schedules. Their schedule on Tuesdays is not crazy so they all have enough time to sit down and eat together as a family.

Steak fried rice: The steak fried rice is our meal for Friday for many reasons, one being that it’s quick and easy and the majority of the food is already prepared and just needs to be thrown in to a pan. This meals gives the family a way to get ride of leftovers with out wasting or throwing it out. Another reason we did they steak fried rice is because no one really wants to cook on a Friday. It’s right before a weekend and family’s are usually out of food by then so by making these leftovers into something new they are saving money and time.

Collaboration Reflection

Throw out this week are group worked really well together even when we where unable to talk face to face, we took advantage of are team group chat and worked out who was doing what. That same day we where able get are jobs and start are word document because we communicate we where able to finish are word document in the second day. Are group used technology when we desisted on our jobs and our meals. We communicate in the chat and everyone took responsibility for one job and did that again when finding and telling everyone what we where going to cook. Although the chat help it also made things more confusing when it came to everyone getting on the same page. For an example when I was trying to explain one of my ideas the way I typed it out made no sense and I re type it to try and word it in a way others would understand. The tasks where distribute by everyone taking responsibility for one and then we decided all together that we would all do Friday as a group. Mia had Monday, Kelsey had Tuesday, I had Wednesday, Miah had Thursday and we all did Friday. I did the layout of the hole word document (made the table, put in the headings added all the information form the criteria sheet). As well as came up with the idea to do Friday all together and sent in information and pictures from teams. You can find the layout on the word document and the information and pictures on the teams group chat.

Self assignment: Collaboration and critical thinking

Collaboration prompts:

(2) I show others I value there contributions by agreeing and trying to add on to their ideas. By doing this I’m showing that I care about what their doing and want to help make their ideas better. I’m appreciative and thankful and show that with my words and actions.
(4) I know the group is working well together when I see collaboration, others helping each other that they might not have known before that and everyone getting there work done. A good group needs to be able to communicate and make decisions together by working together they can get that done twice as fast. Working together is a big part of group work if someone has too much it might not get done in time and if one person doesn’t do there work it makes it harder for everyone else.

Critical thinking prompts:

(4) I can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my own work. I do this in many different ways but one example is in this project, I have used my criteria to make the questions I am answering and to make sure I don’t leave out any important information need to get the best possible mark I can. I have used my criteria to check over my project and make sure I haven’t left out any important, for an example I almost didn’t do this part of the project because I didn’t know it was part of it until I look at the criteria.
(5) I remain open minded as I explore viable options or alternative approaches. I showed this when we where trying to figure out who would do what day. We all knew we would end up with one but there was one left and no one really wanted an extra so I came up with the idea to all share the last day and each put in a little work each, it ended up working well and there where no complaints.
