Heart Sister by Michael F. Stewart

Emmitt’s world has been crumbling ever since his sister passed away in a tragic accident. Minnie was his best friend and without her by his side he feels lost. Not only that but his parents are unable to cope – one is basically catatonic and the other refuses to talk about it, not wanting to even say her name.

Minnie was an organ donor and after receiving a letter from one of the transplant recipients, Emmitt is struck with inspiration. He figures he can not only fix his family but bring Minnie back to life in spirit, by contacting each organ recipient and adding them into an existing VR video with his sister. He starts off strong, making connections, but things quickly turn sideways, and he ends up in several sticky situations.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was humorous, thoughtful and well put together. Organ donation was something I had never read about before. Mix in a little taxidermy and VR and you have a truly unique read.
