Career Life Education 10

This course is a graduation requirement for all students in British Columbia and replaces Planning 10.  Students will explore a variety of learning outcomes that are directly relevant to their future personal wellness, living arrangements, financial planning, and career path.  Career Life Explorations will invite students to consider the impact of their personal and career choices on themselves and others. Students will explore personal development, connections to the community and career and educational life plans. The goal of the course is to enable students to develop the skills they need to become self-directed individuals who display initiative, establish goals, make thoughtful decisions, and take responsibility for pursuing their goals in an ever-changing society.

Career Life Connections 12

Prior to graduation, students will be required to complete four credits of senior career exploration through the Career Life Connections course, as well as a Capstone project and presentation. In addition, students must submit evidence of participation in 30 hours of volunteer or paid work and attend a minimum of one Meet an Expert session during their time at Centennial.   This course will receive a percentage upon completion and may require time throughout Tutorial.

Work Experience 12

This practical hands-on course is designed to help prepare students for the transition from secondary school to the world of work or further education and training. It provides them with the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills, and attributes needed to be successful in the workplace or develop job readiness skills for specific occupations and careers. Students will be required to complete a 30-hour Employability Skills classroom component before they are placed in 90 hours of volunteer work experience related to their job or career interests. This course is an integral part of Work Experience and Apprenticeship programs (see pages 4-7 of this book). This course is open to grade 11 and 12 students. Parental/Guardian approval is required.
