Athletic Leadership 11/12

This course is designed to give students the opportunity to develop their individual and collective sense of social responsibility through the acquisition and application of leadership skills in athletics. This course is designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills in leadership, event management, coaching, and instruction, as well as officiating. Students will discover the benefits of giving back to their school, community, and sport. Students will recognize specific rules enforced by tournament managers, referees and learn strategies implemented by coaches in a variety of sports. Entrance to this course will be based on an interview process.

Leadership 9/10/11/12

Leadership 9/10/11/12 is a course for students that are interested in making a difference in their school and community. . It is considered a 9th class in addition to your 8 main courses and runs off-timetable (Usually once or twice a week in the mornings). Students interested in making a difference in Centennial’s Culture or providing Civil Service (volunteering) or creating their own passion project should consider joining. Students who are interested in taking part in leadership need to be in good academic standing, be highly motivated to make a difference in their school and/or community and be able/willing to volunteer their time to school and community events/activities. To be considered for the program, interested students must complete an application form.

Technology Leadership 10/11/12

Tech Leadership is a non-enrolling linear course designed to develop and showcase student leadership skills with technology at Centennial. Students will be involved in supporting the 1:1 initiative and assisting with any technology-related activities or issues within classrooms and the greater school community. Throughout this course, students will grow on a variety of skills, such as technological, time-management, interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and critical and creative thinking. This is a course that is designed to work around student schedules so students will be asked to support in person and/or online to meet their monthly support hours when it works for them. There will be many opportunities to engage with different technologies and
programs, and students will even work alongside a humanoid robot. Tech Leadership will give students various opportunities to learn, teach, and lead with technology.

 

Past Tech Leadership students have supported both staff and students and have been involved in many school projects, such as the creation of this Course Planning website! To register for this course, you should have some experience or interest with technology and/or working with others. You should also be willing to support and better the Centennial community. Multi-Cultural Leadership 10/11/12

ELL and International students at Centennial have helped to mentor and lead new students at Centennial from many different countries and cultural backgrounds.  You will now play an important role in our Centennial School Community by continuing to help support our most vulnerable learners.  Students will have the opportunity to lead, support and mentor new and current students at Centennial who have cultural and language commonalities. In this class you will have time to develop your leadership skills, to create and support events within the school, as well as to create a school environment of inclusion. This is a full year (linear) , four credit course.
