Personal Social Competency Reflection
I think my experiences as a digital citizen has definitely impacted my outlooks on life. It has strongly influenced my choice of hobbies, such as gaming or basketball. Being able to see the top-level athletes play and watching videos of them in interviews or those big moments that defined their career. It motivates me to keep playing and it helps me know what I strive for everyday.
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are by reaching out to my friends and give advice that I have found useful to them. We keep in contact, by sharing topics, issues or drama around the world to each other and we discuss and share our opinions on it. All with the intention of informing one other, not to prove who was right or wrong but simply to hear each other’s thoughts and expand your knowledge. Another way we keep contact is we listen or give advice on personal stuff that’s happening in our lives, whether it’s small or big, we’re always there for each other. The pandemic may have prevented me from seeing other people in real life but it has definitely gave me the chance to reach out to people and talk about what’s happening around the world online.
Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include keeping my accounts private and secured; long passwords and my account is hidden to the public. Being self-aware in my community, thinking before posting anything making sure it’s not harmful and I’m sharing a positive message. Before posting, I always ask my close friends or my parents if something is okay to post.
