This was likely one of the best books I’ve read. It ended with a satisfying ending (most books I’ve read haven’t been so satisfying), likely because I got so invested in the lives of the characters while I read this book. Writing down the passages about the different aspects of the book was relatively easy, but the one thing that was a little challenging was going in front of the class and talking about it. I tend to build up presentations in my head before I do it, but this time i was a little more calm and collected.
Core Competencies
I had to use the Critical Thinking aspect of the core competencies to deduct what the antagonist was, as it was not set on just one person. If you were to base it on people, it would be at least three different people that would almost be considered to be working against Elinor and Marianne. If you didn’t finish the book, you could be lead to draw the conclusion that it was a person working against Elinor and Marianne. However, upon reading the book, you can clearly see that no one really tries to make Elinor’s and Marianne’s lives miserable.
I communicated my ideas and why I picked certain passages for the different events in the book via my presentation. I did well not to add to many irrelevant ideas to my presentation so I didn’t lose my listeners.
Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, VSCO, Tik- Tok, the list goes on. Social Media is a useful tool, but if you use it the wrong way, it can be dangerous both to your entire life, and most importantly, your Mental Health. Personally, I like using Social Media to stay in contact with my friends who live far away. However, others have a different perspective on Social Media.
Social Media is one of the primary tools for bullies. They comment negatively on posts, which makes the person who posted their picture(s) or video(s) regret what they posted. And once you post something online, it’s out there for good. Cyberbullying is considered a crime today, and that will never change. People don’t deserve to be treated like that. Regardless of their gender, race, or culture. When cyberbullying occurs, it often brings stress among the victim. They suffer symptom of any other type of abusing. They are afraid to go places, can’t sleep, or maybe they may start to feel depressed. Social media can burden the users with stress, which shuts down our learning centers in the brain. Like we saw in the TED ED, shame can cause us to isolate ourselves, or, to the most extreme extent, commit suicide. Social Media is not useful to someone who has social anxiety, depression, and fear of others.
We can prevent ourselves from going in a negative direction. If anyone tries to hurt you online, whether it be an online video game, or a social media site, tell an adult you know and trust. They can help you to get out of your tough situation. Personally, I would limit the time you have on social media per day, to avoid the dangers of being harassed online, or cyberbullied. If you feel threatened online by anyone, including your best friend, report them on the social media site, and most importantly, tell someone. It may be embarrassing, but you can trust them because they can help you.
Your Mental Health is important. If anyone tells you any different, they are not someone you should associate with. Shame, fear, and stress are not helpful for your brain to thrive and prosper. a) What did you enjoy most about the Digital Literacy Research unit?
I enjoyed looking at the different Databases, books, and other sources for my research paper, “Respect for Family.”
b) What was the most difficult part of the unit for you?
Probably citing the proper way. I overcame my problem by asking for help from my Peers, and Ms. Toy.
c) What could you teach someone else about this unit?
I could teach them how to cite websites, and books properly without risking plagiarism.
d) What was the most important thing that you learned about research?
I learned that I need to cite works that I used for research to give credit to those works that I used.
e) Have you any other thoughts or comments?
I really enjoy research papers because normally I don’t do at least 500 words in an essay like the one we did, I usually go above that, and I like that there is no maximum to the number of words in an essay.
Happiness is very important in Paradise City because if there are no happy people then this value wouldn’t be exceeded, and no one would live here.
2.Religion
Religion is very important because we are united in this religion, and it makes us all happy and satisfied. There is a regular meeting twice a week. Sundays and Wednesdays.
3. Unity
Community events are significant because when we are all together as a community, we all connect with each other.
4. Clean Environment
Having a nice, clean environment means no litter on the ground. We keep our city clean by having trash cans every twenty steps in all public places, and on side walks, so we have no candy wrappers lurking on our roads Community
5. Parks/Greenery
Community Parks are where we hold our community gatherings on the weekend. It is also important that we have greenery to look at wherever we go to remind us of the miracle of Creation Jehovah made for us
6. Family
Family time is crucial for Paradise city to thrive to prevent any reckless driving caused from angry family members. Family time is encouraged so if any tension should exist, the family time should release any of that tension and make it disappear
7. Diversity
Diversity is an important part of our society because any who live here are welcome. There are no language barriers, racial disputes, or protests.
8. Clean Transportation/Clean Electricity
Clean transportation is key for a clean environment because we keep our city’s clean, fresh air. Hydro electricity aids the situation as well with our “clean environment vibe” so we keep our water systems clean, for all our animal livestock that live in Paradise City in its rural areas.
Symbolic Colors:
Paradise City’s Symbolic colors are Green, Blue, and Purple.
Green because of the greenery you can see everywhere you go
Blue because of our clean water systems and beaches
Purple because of a wildflower that grows in Rainbow Field.
What Does Paradise City Look Like?
As you can see, there is tons of grass around the buildings, and trees. Hence, why we picked the color green for one of our symbolic colors. The large grassy field is called Rainbow Field, because of the exotic flowers and colors in that field. If you look close enough within the picture, you can see trash cans, which help fulfill our clean environment value. If you look in the mountains, you can see three homes, which are constructed of different woods, which shows the diversity in Paradise City. This picture does not capture all of what we’d wanted to do. But, if you look to the far left, you can see a brick apartment building, which has different types of wood on its roof. That shows more diversity. Within the picture, you can see that there is lots of clean water systems that are accessible to everyone. And if you look to the far right, you can see one of two Kingdom halls in this part of Paradise City. As mentioned in the values of Paradise City, Religion is one of the top values of Paradise City; along with Unity, and Happiness. Makayla and I made sure to embed all values of Paradise city into one small area of this City. It is still under construction, due to a growing community, and Park maintenance; to keep our environment clean.
I have a brother who is always fun to be around; I also have 2 kind, loving parents, who I would never ask for better ones. I have no pets at home, because my aunt is deathly allergic, so we don’t have any pets. When I’m not doing homework or chores, I like to enjoy nature, paint, draw, or even weave bracelets. When I’m not doing any of my hobbies, I am spending my time with my family. on Sundays, we watch Football as a family. Although my brother and I aren’t very interested in this, we watch our parents cheer for their favorite team with joy. When our parents are watching “the Game”, my brother and I go for a bike ride, play board games, such as Jenga, or sometimes we make up our own card games with cards we make ourselves. Whatever we do together, we always have a great time.

Reflection
Reflection Q 1: What is innovative about your visual representation?
My representation is innovative because my costume can keep me warm and cool. My parka keeps me warm in freezing temperatures, and my yoga pants keep me cool in the warmer times of the day. My dog can help find food to help me keep myself and my little companion alive.
Reflection Q 2: How did you develop your Ideas while working on this project?
I did have one idea that I thought would be awesome, but as it turns out, the website that we used restricted my idea, so I put together a comfortable, beautiful, and functional costume that would scream my personality, qualities, and my style.
Reflection Q 3: What did you enjoy about your visual representation?
I enjoyed the fact that you had the option to have a pet with your costume, and you could dye them bright colors. I also liked that there was leggings instead of just pants. The shirts were not my taste, so I found a cute parka that I liked, so I put that on my character.
Reflection Q 4: What would you improve on for next time?
My final result on my character was after four or five tries, trying to make it look like me, and I ended up going back to the home page of the website, then I finally got it, then made this.
Reflection Q 5: What did you learn about your creative ability during this process?
I didn’t realize right away that I wouldn’t like some of the choices, so I made a “trashy” looking outfit, according to some of my peers, so I made it a little bit out of my comfort zone to create something that could keep me cool, and warm, plus, all in a functional way. I didn’t get the warm/cool thing right away; then it hit me. If I didn’t like what was given to me, I would have to persevere, which can be counted as creative thinking. Then, after my brainstorm, I created my Tribute Costume that’s functional, comfortable, and great!

I love horses. My view of this creature changed drastically this summer. When I went horseback riding in August, I was afraid to get on the horse; but that changed very quickly as soon as I touched the hair on its body. The horse was so kind and gentle, that my fears disappeared. I love this video so much because it really captures the beauty and the finesse of the animal.
This is a Palomino horse; this species is one of my favorites. in this picture, it really captivates the sheer beauty, speed, and strength of the horse. I like this picture because even though the picture doesn’t do the horse justice in its looks and physique, I can still see those qualities within the photo.
I love horses; they are my favorite animal. This summer, I went horseback riding, and my experience changed my view of this animal forever. If you ever decide to go riding, go to Campbell Valley. Their horses are used to beginners, and they go at a good trotting pace. I love this clip because it really brings out the beauty in this beautiful animal, as well as the ocean. Horses show incredible endurance, and loyalty to their riders. Enjoy this clip!
