Core Competency Self Assessment- Food Studies

Communication

I picked the Design your own salad as the thing that represented communication the most because i had to have a lot of communication with my teacher, the people who i was working with and my mom, I needed to talk to my mom so i would be able to go out and get any ingredients that were not in class and that i needed for my salad idea. I needed to bring balsamic from home. I also had to figure out everything the teacher had to see what would be good in my salad and would not be that i could use.

Photography 12

I can interact with my environment and others respectfully and thoughtfully.

Reflection:

I think this photo shows the I can statement I chose of how I can interact with others and my environment respectfully and thoughtfully. I think it shows that because when I was taking these photos, I had to make sure no one was in the photo that I had not asked if it were okay or not, so for the photo I needed of a classroom I had to walk around the school to find an empty one so I would not get a bunch of people, same with the photo in the hallway because I had to wait for there to be no people before I could take the photo. Also, for the photo on the street I had to make sure there were no cars around so I wouldn’t block them.

Food Studies Core Competency Self-Assessment

I demonstrated my critical and reflective thinking skills during this project b

How I demonstrated my critical and reflective thinking skills in this project were asking mindful questions and doing some problem solving since both me and my partner missed the demo day before, so we did not have the recipe at first and we also both had neve made cheesecake before. We followed the recipe very carefully and asked questions if we needed too and in the end our cheesecakes looked great, our clean up after cooking went by vey fast because we worked together to get it done faster and had alot of communication. I think I gained more critical thinking skills during this activity since I had to do a lot of problem solving and ask some questions.

Math 10 FPC Self Assessment

This semester in math pre cal 10 i feel like i could improve on seeking help in a more timely manner, for next semester i would schedule small training times, maybe 15 mins every day, to focus on studying.

This semester some personal goals i set for myself we’re that i was always going to hand in homework on time, study every night on whatever lesson we were doing at the time so i would have a better understanding and to come to class regularly and on time. Throughout this semester i feel like i was good at doing my homework and making sure to finish it on time but i could have done better with studying for tests and quizzes. I also feel like i could’ve been better at coming to class on time. I would study for about 30 minutes every night so that I could have a better understanding on the lesson and that helped me a lot throughout the semester.

I felt like i have improved on my ability to work through step by step and to ask questions. I feel like this will help me in my next math course because I think that it will strengthen my ability to be successful in the next course because I will be able to work through each problem methodically.

Cast Iron Skillet Pizza

Making and Sharing Reflection

Making the Cast iron skillet pizza took 2 days, on the first day we made the dough and the second day we cooked the pizza and added the toppings. Individually my partner and I have sperate jobs we agreed to do I was In charge of sifting the ingredients’ into a bowl and my partner went to pick up and measure the other supplies we needed, then when the dough was ready we both took turns mixing it with a wooden spoon. For our topping we added cheese and spinach but you could add anything you’d like.

Core Competency Reflection

As an active listener, I notice that I always listen to my partner and always listen to instructions.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to have a conversation before we start cooking so everyone knows what their job is and what they have to do.

I know the group is working well together when I see everyone working quietly on their jobs that they were assigned.

My goal is to read instructions more and to ask questions before we start cooking so I wont need to do it during.

Breakfast Hash

Making and Sharing Reflection

Making this breakfast hash was very enjoyable, I made it with my patenter Alissia. Me and my partner fully read the recipe beforehand so we would know exactly what to do. afterwards we picked what we were going to do separately, went and did them and supported each other if we needed any help or something needed two people. although if we were both not very clear on what to do we would ask the rest of our group. after finishing cooking the meal, we decided for our design we were going to put basil, salt and pepper. We followed the steps step by step and after completing everything we made our delicious breakfast hash.

Core Competency Reflection

  1. I know the group is working well together when I hear/see them asking questions and all doing their work quietly.
  2. Examples where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen when Ms. Bolli gets us to talk about the recipe before we start cooking and me and my partner decide who’s getting what ready to be cooked.
  3. One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to all talk and read the recipe together first and make sure before we start everyone is clear on everything they have to do.
  4. My goal for moving forward is to read instructions more and ask my partners for help if I need any.

My Digital Footprint

Creating a Positive Digital Footprint

Your digital footprint that is left behind from ur past can have many consequences in ur life. when trying toga job, the employers will look you up and the stuff they find does have an impact on hiring decisions.

Personal/social reflection

Some of my strategies for Having a Healthy, balanced online presence include only posting positive things online, like your hobbies, skills, achievement etc. Another way to have a positive digital footprint is to think before you post, when visiting any websites you can make sure the privacy setting suits your needs. By posting positive stuff online that won’t make a difference in my future I can make a different to my peers. My strengths as a digital citizen are that I can be more aware of internet safety, and I can become more responsible on social media.
