Peanut Butter Cookies

My great grandma used to make these and have them for my family when we used to visit her before she went into a care home. She sadly passed away recently due to the corona virus so in memory of her I decided to bake them. I’ve never baked them before because i’m a huge chocolate chip cookie person so it was interesting to prep. I followed the recipe as it was instructed and put them in the fridge for an hour after getting the dough all ready. The oven had to be preheated to 375 this time and it had to cook for 10 minutes but my oven cooks faster than a regular oven so I baked them for 8 minutes. They tasted warm and gooey the first day eating them and the second day, they were more hardened and chewy inside. I was really glad I made the cookies, they tasted good and I have lots of good memories with them.

Banana Bread

This is the first time making Banana bread and it tasted delicious! My mom has always been the one to make the banana bread and I was really excited to make it and see how the process went. I didn’t have any brown bananas so I had to use yellow ones and it didn’t taste or turn out any different so I was happy about that. It was just a bit more hard to mash but after it was mashed, it was simple, I just had to add all the other ingredients, like; granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, salt and so fourth. I learned that it takes an hour to cook banana bread, i’m used to baking cookies so it surprised me it takes 50-60 minutes to bake. I ate it when t was still warm and I also forgot to mention I added chocolate chips to the banana bread because I have a sweet tooth. I would recommend making this to someone who isn’t an expert with baking because its not a complicated recipe, its easy to follow and it doesn’t take long to prep. Everything went well.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

My dad has been begging me for the last couple weeks to make these cookies that were released from a hotel that were very well known for their cookies, he told me, “people just go to the hotel to have the cookies,” with all the Easter candy I had I didn’t want to make them but eventually I made them to make him happy. This recipe was different from other cookie recipes, They added cinnamon and lemon juice. I was surprised lemon juice was asked for. I followed the recipe but left out Walnuts because I don’t like them. Another thing about the recipe that was different was the baking heat was 300 and you had to bake them for twenty minutes. I have to say after baking them, they were extremely tasty cookies. Probably one of my favorite cookies I’ve ever had. I think I ate 5 cookies in one day! I just couldn’t hep myself.

Pineapple Delight

I don’t recall ever making a dessert with pineapple before but it turned out really well. The crumble was so define and the icing was amazing. The whipping cream and the pineapple chunks took up most of the dish and had the most favour. I believe the dish had a good ratio of sweet to savoury. It wasn’t a hard dish to make a lot of the time was letting it chill in the fridge and freezer. When we waited it was a good time to make other steps of the dish so that worked out perfectly. At the end we had to let it chill till the end of the day and grab it and it was a very nice after school snack! I would make this dessert again it was something new I never made before and I found out how to make a crumble to desserts so whenever I want to make a dessert similar that has a crumble I will know what to do.

Crepes

The crepes my partner and I chose to make had a strawberry filling and oh my, they were good! I probably found this recipe one of the hardest ones. Since we made these in class, i’ve made them a few times at home because I thought I needed to work on my skills of making it thin and light, at home I had more success and quite enjoyed them. The strawberry filling was easy to make in my opinion, we just needed to wash the strawberries, chop them up then add water and sugar to them in a pot, let it simmer for 5-7 minutes and they ended up perfect. I have a sweet tooth and I found these to fill my craving. I would make these again in a heart beat, I mean I already have! each time I make a different filling and overtime they are so delicious. This is one of my favourite meals we have made!

Banana Muffins

For our third lab we made Banana Muffins, they were surprisingly good. I don’t eat muffins often but this recipe made moist, golden brown and they were all similar sizes. I was proud of my muffins because I haven’t made muffins since lasts foods class, over a year ago. My partner and I finished them on time and they were tinder. I would recommend these muffins to anyone who loves muffins. Next time I would like to add chocolate or blueberries into it because I believe that would have added much more delicious flavouring.

Scones

I would recommend making the scones as something to eat as a side to a soup or a simple snack to eat with a compote. Sprinkling some extra sugar on top is something you shouldn’t regret doing. It makes it so much better and makes it taste sweet. With this recipe the methods we used were; flour mixture, quick bread and biscuit. The nutrition value isn’t the highest but much healthier than a store bought product! I didn’t know that you had to cut the butter in was a main part of the biscuit method. I would make this again 100% but maybe to change it up, I would add chocolate chips or something to give it more flavour.

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

I believe this cookie recipe was a good way to start of the cooking semester. It was an easy to follow and get back into the cooking groove. My partner and I measured everything precisely and communicated very well. We finished with lots time to spear. The methods were drop cookie, flour mixture, and quick bread. It was a successful lab and I would make it again anytime I want to eat a cookie. I learned that its much healthier than a store bought cookie and I much rather eat them!
