Math 11 Foundations Stats Self Assessment

Something new I learned is the standard deviation of an equation. It Is a measure of how dispersed the data is in relation to the mean. Low standard deviation means data are clustered around the mean, and high standard deviation indicates data are more spread out. A thing I well understood in this unit was a – scores I understood them quickly and they were fun do to do in equations, word problems and creating the formula for it, they helps me out a lot and I was able to make good use of them to solve problems. A challenge this unit was normal distribution, I didn’t quite understand it that easily and I struggled a bit but I tried my best to understand the whole concept but it was a hard thing for me to grasp in this unit. And finally something I would like to work on for our next unit is just keeping up with my homework because it’s a big resource in these units and understanding and completing the homework will help me when we are doing problems in class and when it comes to tests or quizzes it will help me out alot.

I demonstrated that I can collect and analyze evidence when I collected data for our natural selection lab on how many black birds survived and how how how many red birds survived and we took that and created a chart and analyzed it to see based on which coloured environment they were in. We then took the data from each environment and found an average for each environment. I showed that I can collect data, analyze it and create something out of it

Women’s Fitness and Conditioning Reflection

  • What are you enjoying in this course?

I enjoy doing Zumba classes at poirer because they are so fun and you get a good sweat in the class. I also enjoy doing nature walks because we get fresh air and it’s a good source of cardio.

  • Is there anything want to see more or less of? 

I would like to see more of Zumba classes at poirer because I really enjoyed it and we only did it once but I would like to see more of it

  • What are your goals for the back half of the semester?

My goals are to improve my fitness strength and be fully active during the class even though I already am active during all classes I want to maintain and go harder when I can.

  • What grade do you believe you are at? And why? 

I believe I am at a 92% because I consistently try hard on every class and I’m always positive and wearing gym strip though there are times where my shoe choice may not be gym strip ready but I have improved myself and haven’t worn them to gym since, I think this is an appropriate grade for women’s fitness.

Creative Thinking

In our first Spanish 11 script , I used the core competency creative thinking. I created this script with my group and we used all of our note packages and handouts, to help us and we used our minds to come up with the dialogue of the crops we came up with so many situation and things we could say and we created this all by the flow of it all and the criteria we had to meet to achieve a good grade. Creative thinking is a big part in making a script making process, you have to think outside the box’s and come up with creative and humour concepts, it is what makes the whole dialogue and brings it all together.

Communication

I’m this the creation of this script I used communication, in our group we had to communicate with each other our ideas and what we thought should be put into the script. We also also used communication in our presentation, we had to present this to the whole class and we had to communicate our scrip out loud as if we are having a conversation in front of them . Communication was a big part in this script making and presentation because without communication this whole dialogue wouldn’t meet the criteria and wouldn’t be complete and overall we would’ve achieved a good grade.

Curricular Competency

What did you learn about Indigenous themes, issues, or perspectives during this assignment and how did you grow in your reading, listening, or viewing skills? 

I learned about indigenous perspectives through the character infographic i created by looking at how the indigenous boy named Jason and the way he thinks, his characteristic traits and perspectives he has through the story “A mountain legend”, how he thinks he has to climb the mountain to be a warrior, since all his ancestors and people of his Cree community are warriors. Jason mindset was that he has to prove to everyone he’s a warrior even though he puts his life at risk while doing it. His perspective throughout this whole story was about how he can become a warrior and prove to all that he’s not a chicken. To add, i grew in my reading skills through this assignment by reading a short story “A Mountain Legend” and analyzing and identifying the different characteristics and traits Jason had, and created a character analysis from it. This taught me to gather every critical detail in a story because it’s all important and can help identify a character more in a story.

The core competency I have chosen for my artifact is creative thinking. I demonstrate this by being able to create a body of work over time. I did this by, when I created my character analysis I was given one week to do it, over that one week I gather ideas and information to create my character infographic and each day I would add to it because I thought of more ideas and traits that the character demonstrated in the story. So, at first I started off with some ideas in a character analysis chart, I then over the course of a few days, took those ideas and created my infographic into this creative, colourful, well thought out infographic made on the app canva. My character infographic on the character Jason the story “A Mountain Legend” has illustrated on how i can create a body of work over time, and reflects my creative thinking in English First Peoples 11.

Core Competency Self – Assessment

Should our criminal justice system be more punitive or rehabilitative? Why? 

I believe our criminal justice system should be more punitive, I believe this because I think offender should be punished for the crimes they commit, they have committed a crime against society, and they should have to be punished for their reckless behaviour. If our criminal justice system was more punitive than we be making society safer and locking away criminals who have put society at risk or have caused people pain. Though some people may think rehabilitation is better because it makes offender reflect on the crime they have committed and offers them to change their reckless behaviour. I firmly believe that being more punitive towards offender is more effective than rehabilitation.  

Critical Thinking

The core competency i have demonstrated in my law paragraph is critical thinking. With critical thinking i can analyze my own beliefs and consider views that do not fit with them. I demonstrate this b y in my paragraph i show my belief and opinion on why i believe our criminal justice system should be more punitive. I also, consider how others point of view may be that the criminal justice system should be more rehabilitative, though i don’t agree with that point of view, i can consider it and acknowledge peoples beliefs and opinions.

The core competencies i demonstrated with the brain disorder assignment is creative thinking. I can get ideas when use my senses to explore, i demonstrated this by doing my research on bi – polar disorder, i gather facts and information on it, to help my partner and i to create a story on bi – polar disorder. I also demonstrated communication, i can work with others to achieve a common goal, i do my share. My partner and i, split up different responsibilities in the group equally , and worked well on the project together. We wanted to achieve a good grade on this assignment, so we worked hard and did our shares in the project, to achieve a decent grade. With this assignment, my partner and i worked har, put in our efforts, gather well done research and put together a creative, colourful, well thought out brain disorder story on bi – polar disorder.

What Core Competencies did you Demonstrate With the Research Assignment?  

Communication

The core competencies i demonstrated with the research assignment is communication. With communication, i can be an active listener, i support and encourage the person speaking. I demonstrated this by when we were in our groups gathering research and speaking on the topic of music, i listened to each and everyone of my group members who were sharing their ideas, and i was an active listener to those who were speaking. Also, with Communication, i can understand and share information about a topic that is important to me. I demonstrated this by when we were talking about our research on music and how it affect peoples efforts when doing school work, i know quite a lot about music and then different genres, and i’ve listened to music while doing school work before. So, i shared my knowledge and thoughts on how i feel about listening to music and how i think others feel about their work efforts while listening to music, based on the different genres of music.
