2.1 Properties of Rational Expressions

What is a rational expression? Is it the same thing as a radical expression?

The answer is, no.

A rational expression is the quotient (fraction) of two polynomials with the denominator not equal to 0.

The domain of a rational expression is the set of real numbers that can be used in the place of the variable. You can remember domain as a number that the bottom variable cannot equal to, or a number that will make the bottom 0.
