Some Terms You Should Know:
- Term: a number or a product of a number with one or more variables. Ex: 5y, x, 10, -2a³
- Polynomial: a term or sum of terms in which… a) variables have to have whole number exponents and b) variables only appear in the numerator Ex: 5, 3a2-2a, √2x
- Monomial: a polynomial with one term Ex: 3, 2x2y, -3a
- Binomial: a polynomial with two terms Ex: x + 2, x2 – y, 2x2y + 3
- Trinomial: a polynomials with three terms Ex: 3x2 + 2x – 3, √2x + y – z
