1.2: Square Roots

^^^This is called a Radical Sign. It indicates the Square Root of a number.

Perfect Square: A number with a rational square root.

Exponents: The exponent is the smaller number on top of the bigger number, tells you how many times to multiple the base number by itself.

Eg. 54. In this case, the ‘4’ is the exponent.

Base: The Base is the bigger number. It is what you multiply itself by depending on what the exponent is.

ex. 54. In this case, ‘5’ is the base.

Power: The exponent and base combined

ex. 54. In this case, ‘54‘ is the power.

Square Root: square root of a number is a value that gives a number when multiple by itself

Eg. 4×4=16, 5×5=25, 6×6=36

Squared: anything ‘squared’ is ALWAYS to the power of ‘2’

Eg. ‘9 squared’ = 92
