LUNENBURG, NOVA SCOTIA

PHYSICAL LANDFORMS

1/a)

landform 1- mountains… mountains form because plates under the earth move & push ground up and creating mountains and plateaus. Glaciers carved out valleys 7 left small hills which sheared off the top of the mountains to form plateaus.

landform 2-lakes… lakes form by tectonic plates in the crust of the earth pull apart which starts forming natural basins that eventually get filled up with rain water which then gets flooded and forms what is called lakes.

economic activities that exist around this town from mountains

ski mountains is an economic activity for mountains because of the gear they use when you ski. the equipment for a path to ski, and the hills they (people) ski over.

economic activity that exist around this town from lakes

lakes- fishing is a big economic activity for lakes because of the species that the fishes target, all of the gear that they use, and the level of exploitations which these are all influenced by the benefits they receive.

CLIMATE

Climate is moderate, owing to the costal location, which helps limiting extremes in temperatures. So Lunenburg is slightly milder in winter then slightly cooler in the summer than most areas of similar latitude. the warm , breezy summers with the temperatures low to mid 20s. There winters are cold and frequently wet. heavy snowfalls sometimes, but their snowpack is usually short because of frequent winter rains and regular freeze thaw cycles.

1.
two climate characteristics of Lunenburg is, snow and rain.

a)
snow__- Just like rain–snow forms the same way how rain does. Snow will then only form if the temperature is low enough to freeze the raindrops. Which then the clouds dump the snow away from the clouds.

rain__- The mountains make a barrier for moving air, The water that existed as a gas underneath high pressure and temperature (of the flatlands) now change into cool droplets. Clouds then form over the mountain. Clouds continue to rise which makes the droplets too heavy to hold itself so the clouds dump the rain.

b)
economic activity that comes from rain
Lunenburg’s temperature is mostly warm and template. when they do get rain their rainfall is significant, even during the driest month.
the winters there are cold a frequently wet. They have frequent winter rains and freeze thaw cycles.

(FTC happens when the temperature is cold enough to freeze the water, and increases again for it to thaw.)

economic activities that comes from snow
Lunenburg can have heavy winter snowfalls that occur sometimes. But Lunenburg’s snowpack’s can be short at times which is because of short frequent rains and heavily freeze haw cycles.
They have thick fog and damp conditions that can occur anytime of the year, but mostly in the spring. Lunenburg has seasonal lags. The seasonal lags exist around the town because of cooler ocean temperatures which means the spring conditions arrive late in the town.
cold from artic air in the winter. Heavy snowfall. moderate temp from NCS current. some orographic rainfall which freezes into snow.

VEGITATION

1/a)

forest- forests form from trees being sprouted all in the same area which make a forest start to form.

forests economic actives can because from rain or lack of rain. If there is not enough rain and it is too hot outside it can cause forest fires and damage the trees.

pine trees- they form from the seeds inside of pinecone which you plant and a ‘pinetree’ forms

economic activities that comes from pinetrees are
