CONTEXT: Ms Gauer’s Eng. 9, Per. 4 Class Was Assigned a Project to Research and Report on a Specified Topic. This is my Reflection.
Q1) What did you enjoy most about the digital literacy research unit?
A) I enjoyed learning about how to properly cite sources and discovering various types of citation formats, especially after being unable to cite properly before this unit.
Q2) What was the most difficult part of the unit for you?
A) Printing two pages from my computer with the library printer.
Q3) What could you teach someone else about this unit?
A) How to cite in MLA format properly.
Q4) What was the most important thing you learned about research?
A) Give yourself time to process and make your topic, develop a thesis, and create an outline based on the format of report you will be dealing with, before exploring databases for information regarding your topic.
Q5) Have you any other thoughts or comments?
A) Although I can view public databases like PubMed Central and ChEBI, I have also been told that I need permission from the publisher(s) and author(s) if I were to cite the information that they provided. Knowing that these databases are public and are open for people to use and understand, I am curious as to why I need permission to cite a public database’s information.
