Communication
Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen when I worked with my partner to achieve a shared goal: performing a solid dissection and identifying organs. More specifically, I referred to the dissection guide to help us follow the procedure while she cut up the pig, and I constantly reassured her she was doing well. This allowed us to successfully and efficiently carry out the dissection in a timely manner. Additionally, we were able to individually and collectively work together to help find certain organs. For instance, as I was searching for the testes and my partner was looking for the glottis, we actively updated each other on what we were seeing; we gave each other feedback and confirmed each structure.
Critical and Reflective Thinking
I use evidence to make judgements or decisions as demonstrated in this lab by carefully reading each step of the dissection. While most organs were clearly depicted in the reference guide, some were not included which made them more difficult to find, so my partner and I had to think critically as to where they would be located. For example, we used our previous knowledge of anatomy to make educated guesses on the structures, even getting some wrong several times, which allowed us to take a different approach and eventually identify the correct organs.
