Positive Personal & Cultural Identity
“I can identify and describe my qualities.”
I demonstrated my positive personal identity in this crochet project, it helped me recognize my strengths and good qualities in this class. I found that I have a skill for crochet through making this project, all the crochet I had done before hadn’t turned out very well and crocheting small squares didn’t interest me. Making a larger scale project like this one, and it being something I can show proudly is very valuable to me. I value having something to show of my hard work. I put a lot of time and effort into this project, starting it out was difficult and confusing for me. My crochet skills were pretty rusty but, I found that the pattern I was using had an instructional video which I used to help clarify any questions I had. Perseverance is a quality I possess and value a lot, I showed this by never giving up on this project, and sticking with it to the end. In doing this project, I identified my quality of being resourceful. While making the hat I noticed It was too small for my head so I used the resources I had, my prior crochet experience, and added an increase to each square of my hat and extra rows. It now fits perfectly. I showed my ability to challenge myself in choosing a large project to do, but I enjoyed completing it. I am very happy with my project and proud of how it turned out.
