I made my comic strip based off real events when I went snowboarding
I love to snowboard and I thought it would be a good idea to make a comic strip my snowboarding trip that actually happened.
Communicating: I actively asked questions to ensure what I was writing down made sense and was right for the most part.
Collaborating: I worked by myself but I communicated with my desk-mates to make sure what we were doing made sense to each other
Personal: I take joy in my comic strip, I like my idea as it brings back a good memory because the mountain was a powder day. I made sure not to say anything bad as it is a school assignment and I kept it clean and nice. I missed the day we started the comic strip without knowing of it and it was due the day after but I pushed through my time struggles and finished it on time.
Core Competency Reflection
I feel like I learned how to form sentences slightly better after doing this assignment, I also like how creative this assignment was with our imagination.
This lab represented many different core competencies but communication and creative thinking stuck out to me the most. In this lab we had to make use of the things in the room to keep one pop can full of water cold, and another pop can filled with water as hot as it can. Used lots of the winter snow outside help up around the can with tin foil to keep the cold can as cold as we could bringing it all the way down to waters freezing point (0°C) for plenty of minutes. For the hot can we used a kettle to heat up hot water then pouring the hot water into a cup surrounding the can heating up the can to a certain extent. We then used bright hot lights to speed up and increase the heat of the hot can. We all contributed to the cans with most of the work going into the hot can and a pretty basic setup going into the cold can. We all thought as a team as the best ways to heat up and keep the can cold. Many people used the same equipment and strategies as us resulting in a room full of lights staring down at their cans.
Internet safety is important no matter who you are and what you do. Don’t give out too much information about yourself online. People may use that information against you and blackmail you unless you give them something or do something. You should also be careful with downloading software because they could end up being a virus leading to the destruction of your computer or loss of files and stolen information. You should always secure and unique passwords on your online accounts, account hacking is common and not worth the risk. Check websites reputation and reliability to see if the information is legit. When accesses websites make sure the website is the one you were looking for, fake copies of popular websites may lead to information stolen or worse. Ignore texts and messages and never click on random links random people send. If one of your friends sends you a download, link, or message asking for help with something, verify its actually them before doing anything because when a hacker hacks an account, they attempt to hack accounts that are friends with the hacked account. To keep your accounts safe, I suggest using extra security. Some extra security to use; two factor authentication, this requires you to enter a code that is sent to your number or email each time you log in. VPN is another extra security tactic to ensure your Ip address isn’t taken by websites or people. Ip addresses can be used to find someone’s general location or shut off their internet for a period of time. An anti virus is another extra security measure to ensure safety of your computer and information.
Personal / Social Competency Reflection
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are, talking to them frequently, If you haven’t talked to a friend in a few days or weeks ask them how its going or ask them if they want to do or play something.
I think my experiences as a digital citizen, such as playing with a lot of different people influenced my choice of my hobbies because they introduced me to new hobbies and activities to do and practice; giving me recommendations on sports to try out and normal or workout routines.
Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presences include checking up with people often, asking if they want to do something or how they are. Consistently talking together. Having fun and being positive towards each other.
Usually, when I’m dealing with stress I try my best to forget about it by talking to one of my friends or laying down with my dog on the couch or wherever he is laying down at the time. Video games are also a great coping method, playing with friends and listening to music is helpful. I like to go on short bike rides when I’m tired, bored, or possibly sometimes as a coping method. Sometimes I watch a youtube video series, movie or a show with my friends.
