Metalshop Class

In the metal shop I made a safe and a lock, this project helped me learn how to problem solve and use my skills in the shop to their fullest. The lock was arc welded together made perfectly squared and welded then grinded down. the pieces/walls and lid of the safe was cut on the CNC router. The lock pieces were also all cut on the CNC router then welded together. a few problems arose while making the lock. For example when I was trying to make the locking mechanism inside the lock I couldn’t find a spring to fit the socket then came an idea, I thought about mechanical pencils and how they have springs in them. It was a perfect fit. this is a photo of my lock/safe.

What was Easy for me about this project? The easy part was making the presentation, making the presentation was very easy once I finished reading the book. What difficulties did I encounter? The difficulty I encountered on this project was reading the book as I do not like to read and it is hard to find time to spare to read. I overcame my difficulty by setting aside a small part of my afternoon to read the book. What surprised me was how many people died and how graphic my book was, it made the book more interesting and easier to follow along.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus I usually grab some water and take a five minute break then come back with a fresh mindset. By doing this it helps me focus and get my work done, but if I do the five minute break on my phone I could get easily distracted and 5 minutes can turn into 30 so I don’t go on my phone in during the break.

To celebrate a accomplishment such as finishing about half my project I take a 5-10 minute break and get some food or a drink. By taking this break it gives my brain a minute to cool down and can give me a fresh mindset for the second half of the project.

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by asking questions when I am confused or not certain on a part.

Tribute Costume

Creative Process, The Visual Representation is that he has wings for flying, a weapon and ammo for fighting and is very buff. The way i generated ideas working on this project was i just thought what skills would i use in the hunger games and what would i want to wear. I enjoyed that i added my favorite sport snowboarding into this project as he is wearing snowboarding pants. I wouldn’t improve on anything next time. i learned that i have almost no creative ability while working on this project.

Some skills I have that would help me survive in the hungers are running, I love running and can sprint pretty quick. Running would help me in the hunger games because I could run from animals or other contestants. Another skill I have is climbing, I can use climbing to my advantage as I could climb trees to escape enemies.  Some information about me is I love hockey, snowboarding, rock climbing, and traveling. Some of these skills could also help me survive the hunger games, hockey gives me good stamina and leg strength. Snowboarding would help me with balance as I could balance on a skinny tree branch. Finally, Rocky Climbing this skill will help me climb trees, Rocks etc. One last skill that I have to help me survive the hunger games is Game sense, Game sense would help me play it smart and hopefully be able to not need to fight until the last person alive. These are some skills that would help me survive the hunger games.
