Safety and Sanitation

In this lab, we made pancakes using the stove and oven. It went pretty well, some successes were that we were able to make many pancakes and they tasted pretty good. A challenge my partner and I faced was transferring the pancakes onto the baking sheet that was in the oven. It was challenging because we had to use a flipper to place it in without letting the pancake fall. The safety and sanitation concerns from this lab are making sure you don’t burn yourself when cooking the pancakes with the cast iron, as well as placing the pancakes in the oven. To ensure that none us would get burnt, we were fully aware of how hot the cast iron is and made sure not to touch the handle. We also pulled out the rack in the oven when placing the pancakes so we wouldn’t get burnt. For sanitation, we washed our hands and pre-rinsed the dishes while we were cooking. These things are important so 1. no one gets burnt, and 2. no one gets sick from the germs that are on our hands.
