Guitar Reflection

Elena Langstroth, June 16th, 2022

I did a lot of songs that I thought I wouldn’t be able to do for a long time in this course. I have a songbook at home and I tried really hard to figure out some of those songs, but I didn’t know where to start. Fortunately, one of the songs I really wanted to learn was a song we learned as a class, and because of that, now I can play that song!

I learned how to fingerpick in this class, which is also something that I tried really hard to learn on my own, but now that I’ve practice and been taught in class, I can fingerpick. I would also like to improve on that as well, because I want to be able to play fingerpicking songs in the future.

In the future, I want to be able to make up my own solos, instead of playing other people’s solos for songs, even if that song doesn’t have a solo. I think it is a necessary thing to be able to do if I’m playing with my band and we’re just jamming.

Core Competency

(Critical Thinking)

I used critical thinking in this class when I was piecing together a song that was a little more complicated. It was a good place for me to use my problem-solving skills. I benefitted greatly from this because I find learning new songs a big challenge because it’s so new. I got over that though, because I kept using my problem solving skills to figure things out. It all worked out great in the end.
