Personal & Social Competency Reflection
I acknowledge that my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences including the prevention of jobs/careers, as well as getting into universities as I plan on applying to several in the future. To adjust my actions in order to keep my digital footprint relatively positive, I both avoid oversharing my location which includes tagging precise places, and refrain from commenting anything negative on public posts. On social media such as Instagram and Twitter, I am constantly using my platform to amplify various communities’ voices by reposting issues I believe others should care about.
Some of the ways I work towards both building and maintaining healthy online relationships are by spreading positivity and kindness. I believe modern technology has developed in several ways which allow us to become closer than ever to friends/family. It takes little to no effort to simply compliment someone in their replies, or tag a friend in a video you think they would like.
My experiences as a digital citizen heavily influences my values and interests. Music plays a huge supporting role in my life, and social media helps me both support the artists I like, and find new music. This includes YouTube and Spotify for streaming music, and Twitter for daily updates and connecting with other fans around the globe with the same interests.
