Communication

Pancakes

The lab was a success, the pancakes where evenly cooked, and the right consistency. Only a few of them I mistakenly folded them or flipped them too early. But for the most part it was a good product.

Communication important for working in the kitchen, because you need to say which job you are doing. Miscommunication can cause confusion while cooking, and increases the possibility of making a mistake. If you and your partner do not communicate it could take longer to finish the lab, because you might be waiting around.

This lab required communication because you are using the stove and only 2 people should be at the stove, everyone should get a chance cooking the pancakes , and no one should be standing around doing nothing. We solved this by giving everyone a turn, and while your partner is cooking you should do your unit job.

Most Memorable Food Experience

My most memorable food experience was probably the time that I was at my grandparent’s house, a few summers ago. I remember my aunt cooking all day, in the end she made 6 pies with the fresh fruit taken from my grandparent’s garden. Every store bought pie I’ve tasted is (in my opinion) is disgusting. However, I have learned from my family’s baking, pies made without corn starch, taste much more pleasant. To this day, I remember the sweet aroma that filled the kitchen, the different colours and textures of the pies. After diner, we argued which flavor of pie was the best, as they were brought in one by one. Each one was unique, ranging from tart to sweet to a cinnamon flavor. In the morning we tried to be up early enough, so we could have “breakfast pie”. In less then 24 hours, all 20 of us finished 6 pies.
