Explanation / Brief History: The founder, Dylan Elliott, was looking for a place to create a factory – a factory town. That’s when he found this perfect flat chunk of land by a couple of rivers, untouched with fertile soil and lots of trees. So he decided to start building. He hired men to build factories, homes, boarding houses, stores, hotels, farms and a city hall. After everything was built, he hired a woman to work at the textile factories and the farms. He sold the shops and homes and ever since he watched his bank account and the population grow.

Media Fluency Reflection

A. It was super easy building my town. All I did was look at some examples of real factory towns in the 1800’s and based it off that and change something to my liking and boom my town was built.

B. I was able to apply the skills in the planning stages and plan out what my town was going to look like. Then apply them on the software in the digital environment.

C. I used an old map of Lowell, Massachusetts to see its elements and design of the town then implemented some of those elements in my town to make an authentic make-believe town.

D. There might be other softwares online that could have done a better job but i don’t think they’re as user friendly and easy to learn as the one I used.
